Chapter 24

~~~~~Nashoba~~~~~
My eyes fly open. I look around. My chest burns red hot, but not nearly as bad as I remember. I turn my head slowly looking into the dark eyes of a woman. I remembered her. She looks back at me calmer than everyone I had seen so far. Everyone including myself.
I looked around cautiously and muttered "What happened?"
The woman looks down at me and answers "You went crazy. Then you fell out. You had a heart attack. Mingan, your wolf, should remember. Go ahead and ask him. He was pretty pissed."
I sighed and pushed myself onto my forearms gasping at the pain that flared through my body. I grabbed at my chest falling back onto the bed. The woman watched calmly, however she was sitting on the side of her chair ready to get help if the need arose. I took a deep breath and then asked her "How long was I out?"
She shrugs "About a day. Give or take a few hours."
I nod and then ask "Mind helping me up. I can't lay here another second." She nods and stand putting an arm under and around my back and helping me sit up the pain flaring. I hiss and she looks at me warily before I just give her a pained smile and she helps me onto my feet.
When I am finally on my feet and have tested my legs out a bit we start towards the door. However when we get there I shrug her off and say "Thanks, but I'm good now. No offense, but I don't want to look weak."
"What!? You don't want to look weak!? In front of who!? Dani! She could care less about you! Besides she left for pack land this morning! Said Zander was gonna kill her if she didn't show back up. So if you don't want to look weak better hurry and catch up." She shoved past me slamming the hallway door back into her room.
I growled softly and then sniffed at the air. I would have to be fast. If she had left thus morning that wasn't much time to find her.  But she would be limping so maybe she hadn't even made it off the property yet.
I shifted quickly and easily and let Mingan take over he sniffed around and then busted the front door to pieces as he ran. To me he was obviously half speed. Probably from my injuries as well as our mate rejecting us. I just sat back watching carefully to make sure we didn't stray from our course.
After a few hours of running the scent was becoming increasingly stronger. I slowed Mingan down searching the trees. He growled slightly. I ignored him and took over moving forward slowly. Then I once more relinquished control and let him track the scent.
After another few hours Mingan stops running and scurries around his nose pressed to the ground. I am fixing to ask him what's wrong when I realize the scent is gone. I look around and see the tire imprints. To be more specific my trucks tire imprints. Mingan had tracked her all the way back to my truck. I snarled and growled and told Mingan to go as fast as he cold back home. He didn't argue as he took off running as fast as he could.
Mingan blocked my pain out and forced himself to speed up. Frankly I didn't blame him. I would do the same thing when it came to Dani. I watched through Mingan's eyes wildly trying to think why Dani would run off.
Mingan slowed to a stop at the edge of the trees and I cursed silently. I shifted back into a human holding my chest. I stepped from the trees looking around and sniffed. I still didn't even get a whiff of her. A shiver went down my spine and my chest tightened. I moaned involuntarily and before I could do anything I was out on my feet. I felt my body hit the ground and then nothing.
Everything was dark. I couldn't hear a thing. I only felt the pain of my body and how exhausted it was. Then nothing. Absolutely nothing.
