Chapter 27

I heard a ruckus early in the morning. The club was silent other than pounding feet and squeaking shoes as they neared the office. I was off the bed in a heart beat already starting to shift. No one should be here. But, when the door flew open and I saw Nashoba my shifting came to a halt. I looked at the guys carrying him.

They rushed to the bed and put him down gently. I watched them frozen on the spot. I had expected Nashoba to come back yes, but not looking like this. He looked halfway dead already. I looked at Devante suddenly and then asked quickly "What happened?" I knew when I had left, Nashoba hadn't had knuckle marks and black eyes.

Devante didn't answer me as he fell against the wall breathing hard. He slid to the ground and covered his face with his hands. By far he was the toughest out of the three, and for him to be this emotional made me realize something bad had happened.

Jayden and Wesley were out the door before I could question them. I heard Jayden slam a door to one of the rooms that were on the club level floor. Then I heard another slamming door and Wesley's breathing as they freaked out. I was getting impatient.

I glared at Spencer and growled "What happened?" Not even he would answer me. I was loosing my cool quickly as I asked them over and over again. Why wouldn't they answer me! Then I lost it. I screamed at them "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO MY MATE!?!?"

Spencer looked at me sharply clearly surprised by my outburst. Devante however was on his feet now looking between the still out cold Nashoba and me. He quickly grabbed me by the elbow and ushered me down the hall. I watched as we entered an empty storage room. He pushed me in front of him and growled "I know for a fact you didn't say what I think you just said."

I was still in shock about what I had said. I couldn't believe that I had so easily lost my cool and given away the biggest secret I had ever held. Devante shook me violently and I muttered "You can't tell Zander. Make sure Spencer knows. I can't let Zander find out. He'll kill Nashoba or vice versa."

Devante quickly said "Zander isn't your mate. Nashoba is your mate. But, Zander is so attracted to you for some reason you can't even leave his sight for over 12 hours or he freaks out. Please explain what happened to him."

I shook my head and then said "First Spencer needs to know this has to be kept a secret." Devante growled, but didn't grab me or object. We rushed from the room and saw Spencer standing outside the room.

We rushed towards him and he quickly filled us in "Zander is in there with the doc. He said no one is allowed inside."

We nodded and then grabbed him heading back to the storage room. We both shut the door and talked in low voices "You can't tell Zander. What happened in that room never did. Got it?"

Spencer quickly said "I don't remember anything happening in the room." Devante smirked.

Devante quickly held out his fist and Spencer tapped it. Devante smiled "I knew I liked you for a reason kid." Spencer just nodded.

I leaned against the wall and slid down "Can one of you please tell me what happened to him?"

Devante quickly started "Well we split up into teams and I had the border closest to where Zander directed Nashoba to go to find you. We heard his howl. It was really weak, and we ran up the hill to him. I got Zander's attention and told him where to go. He smelt weird. Like an animal that has been dead and sitting out for to long."

I cut him off filling him in "That's the vampires. We were with them. That is who shot me."

Devante looked confused "You were with the vampires? Why? Wait...I'm confused..."
