That was a month ago...

It was the last time Natasha and I spoke.

She's been avoiding me this whole time.

I text and call her, but she refuses to respond to me; she completely cut me out of her life. I can't exactly blame her, but I had hope that she would just pretend nothing happened. Pretending was better than this. I've been taking up more and more missions to keep myself occupied. I wanted to distract myself from the hurt I am going through.

Currently, I was walking off a quinjet after returning from an undercover mission. It only took a few days to take down a gang of illegal weapon traders. My hair was up in a high ponytail and a small backpack was hanging from my shoulder.

As I scanned the room, I handed my backpack off to one of the agents before my eyes caught a flash of red from the opposite side of the hangar. My heart sped up as I made eye contact with Natasha, but she quickly looked away and exited the hangar before I could make any move to approach her.

I guess she didn't want to talk...

Pushing aside the tinge of sadness, I walked in the direction of the bridge to meet up with Fury. I needed to debrief him on my mission and talk to him about getting another.

Once I reached the bridge, I took my usual seat at the round talk and Fury made his way over to me.

"Agent Desantos. I assume everything went well?" He started.

"Yes, sir. Everything went well without any trouble."

"Good. I assume you want another mission. I will be honest with you, Agent. I am concerned about the numerous missions you have taken up. Don't you think you need time to relax and recuperate?" He asked.

"With all due respect, Director. I am fine. I just want to do my part for S.H.I.E.L.D." I responded, lying right through my teeth.

"I will let that lie slide for now, because I have something of importance to show you." He said. He slid over a gray folder and I snatched it, opening it. Pictures of Hydra's symbol popped out at me as well as a picture of a man. A man I knew too well.

"Felix Kaiser. But you already knew that." Fury said. "Scientist for Hydra. We have reason to believe he is working on a deadly weapon. We don't know what Hydra has planned, which is why I am asking you to go undercover and find out."

"Whatever they have planned, it can't be good. I wouldn't be surprised if they are making something. They made me after all." I commented as I read through the folder.

It was true. Felix Kaiser was the "genius" lead scientist who created me and the serum that made me who I am. Although I was deemed a failure, he was still praised for his work in creating a super soldier like Captain America.

"You were my first pick for this mission, but if it is too personal, I can always ask Agent Romanoff." He suggested.

I tensed hearing her name, but I shook it away. "I am more than capable of handling this, sir. When do I leave?"

"Now."

I got up out of my seat and headed back to the hangar. I didn't need to pack anything since I was ready from my previous mission that I just got back from. I wasn't here for more than fifteen minutes and I already have another mission.

I was almost to the hangar when I turned around the corner, almost crashing into someone. I put my arm out in reflex to grab the person, but they quickly yanked their arm from me. I looked up, meeting the eyes of Natasha. I awkwardly cleared my throat and straightened my back.
