ARTEMIS LUPIN WAS RESTLESS AS THE NEXT DAY CAME. The sun rose unforgivingly, bringing on a new set of problems that included George's injury. Once everyone retreated back to their homes and bedrooms, Artemis stayed in the living room even though George had passed out from exhaustion. She sat with her back against the couch, leaning her hand near the end where his way.
It must have been a couple hours into the night that George poked her, insisting she lay with him. She had been quick to regret the request, not want to hurt him.
"It's my bloody ear, not my fucking body,"George had rolled his eyes, pulling her onto him. She laid on top of him, and he didn't mind her weight. Artemis rested her head on his chest, and finally managed to get some sleep, knowing he was okay.
The sun came up from the horizon, and the house had fluttered awake. There was no sleeping in, not on the day of Bill's wedding. Artemis was awoken by Molly Weasley, telling her that she needed to help George get cleaned up and dressed. The redhead woman then told her that her dress was in Ginny's room, that Fleur had gotten it for her and that she needed to be ready soon.
Artemis shifted, gazing at George with his head tilted on the sofa to where only his absent ear was on display.
"George,"Artemis whispered, but nothing stirred him. She repeated his name a few times before poking his chest, which then he stirred.
George turned his head,"What?"He asked groggily.
"Could you hear me say your name?"
"You said my name?"
Artemis nodded slowly, realizing very quickly that George couldn't hear out the hold in his head."It's okay, you can hear me now, can't you?"
"Perfectly,"The redhead assured her.
"You realize what this means, right?"
George nodded slowly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes,"I'm deaf on this side, because the curse exploded my eardrums along with my ear."
"You know, girls quite like battle scars,"Artemis joked, making him chuckled.
"We're both scarred now, aren't we a pair?"
She leaned up, letting her lips cover his in a sweet moment of affection before she leaned back."There is no quite like us."
"I like it that way."
Artemis then dragged him out of his makeshift bed, and they took over the bathroom. They didn't shower together, but instead George sat on the sink while she took her shower. After she was done, she did her hair while he showered, making sure he didn't fall and cleaned his wound safety.
