ARTEMIS LUPIN WAS SHIVERING IN THE CRISP COLD AIR. Winter was not kind to Artemis and Ron as snow had started to fall a few days after they left. Still, they moved on, trying to find the city for a warm place to sleep, and then they would come back to the forest in hopes of finding their friends.
Ron had been thankful that Art had followed him. Even though, it was Hermione he always wanted, but Artemis had always been a good friend to him despite the fights they often got in. It was good to have company over the past few weeks as they searched for Hermione and Harry. Though, they slowed down by the full moon as Artemis had to set up camp and shift.
Another month went by, and it had to be December. There was no way for Artemis to know for sure, but the snow was falling in blankets now and it had been two weeks since her last shift. She had two shifts since they left, which would make it October when they last saw their friends.
Both of them were beyond consumed with worry and a certain sadness as they missed their friends. All they wanted was for them to be okay.
"It's got to be almost midnight,"Artemis shivered, glancing around the abandoned street of a small town they had come across."I think this is near my grandfather's..."
"What?"
"I just apparated to a town, I didn't really think of which one...I recognized that pub down there..."Artemis told him with a shrug,"Let's stay here for the night? Tomorrow, we can find my grandfather's, get our bearings and then head out again."
"At least it will be safe,"Ron muttered.
"Eh, death eaters do frequent the area..."Artemis admitted,"I mean, during the first war, my grandmother was killed in these streets."
"What the fuck, Art?"Ron exclaimed.
"She was!"Artemis said,"Plus, we're near the forest, snatchers are bound to be around."
"Isn't this a muggle town?"Ron asked, his breath visible in the frigid air as they crossed the vacant street."Nothing is even open, why would snatchers come here?"
"Because there are wizards here. It's a common place for wizard and muggle couples to settle, Gramps has told me all about it."
"Hey, if we can find the house..."Ron whispered,"You'll have a safe place to shift for the full moon, it's coming up, you know."
"I'm aware,"Artemis said with a hint of a smile at the pun she made."Get it?"
"Yes, aware like a were-wolf. Very funny,"Ron told her with a smile,"But you get what I'm saying, right? Moony used to shift there, so there is bound to be a safe place."
"And if we find the house...I don't need to hunt for food."
"I assumed we were going to raid these shops,"Ron admitted, motioning towards the small shops that covered the town.
