-Lily POV-

"Let the ball begin!"

An excited chatter erupted throughout the Great Hall as Dumbledore announced this. The Headmaster waved his hands and empty goblets appeared on all the tables, a drink table appeared in the corner of the hall, and music began to play.

Marlene had said something to Sirius, and they had gone off to the dance floor, along with Remus and Mary.

I see James turns to me, standing up from his chair. He extended a hand towards me. "Care to dance, m'lady?"

I grin, grab his hand, and stand up. "Sure thing, you big dork."

We make our way to the dance floor, hand in hand, and find ourselves standing right next to Sirius, Marlene, Mary, and Remus.

"Aw, look at our mates," I say with a crooked smile. Remus and Mary, while dancing around, were talking and laughing with each other. Marlene's back was against Sirius's stomach, and Sirius was whispering something in her ear and she was laughing and rolling her eyes, and at one point stomped down on his foot with a tomato red face.

James just laughs happily.

I gasp animatedly when I hear a happy little tune on a piano, knowing immediately what song is coming on.

"ALICE! FRANK! PETER! GET OVER HERE!" I shout across the room to our (red and yellow, might I add) table. I see Frank and Peter confusedly scramble after Alice towards us, Alice laughing and knowing the song too. I look over at Mary and Marlene and see their excited faces.

Us Maraudetts, we know this song. It is a known favorite for our sleepovers.

Once they all reach us, the lyrics start, and Marlene, Mary, Alice, and I sing along.

"Desmond has a barrow in the marketplace
Molly is the singer in a band
Desmond says to Molly 'Girl I like your face'
And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand,"

I yell the lyrics along to the song happily, dancing around crazily. The boys laugh at us girls, but then James starts dancing too and the rest join in.

LA LA HOW THE LIFE GOES ON
OB LA DI, OB LA DA, LIFE GOES ON, BRAH
LA LA HOW THE LIFE GOES ON."

"THAT'S THE CHORUS, SO REMEMBER THOSE TWO LINES AND SING THEM NEXT TIME!" I shout at everyone. I was only meaning for the squad to hear, but I think the whole Great Hall heard me.

"Desmond takes a trolley to the jeweller's store
Buys a 20 carat golden ring
Takes it back to Molly waiting at the door
And as he gives it to her she begins to sing,"

"GET READY!" I yell happily to the Marauders and Maraudetts.

LA LA HOW THE LIFE GOES ON
OB LA DI, OB LA DA, LIFE GOES ON, BRAH
LA LA HOW THE LIFE GOES ON,"

But rather than just my people singing that part loudly and ridiculously, I laugh as I hear practically the whole damned Great Hall singing it ridiculously. I guess my orders had gotten to everyone.

And so, for the rest of the song, each time the chorus rings through the hall, everyone happily sings. I wouldn't be surprised if Rosmerta could hear us from Hogsmeade.

Panting from singing, and laughing from that same reason, we all go back to our red and yellow striped table and take a seat. James is on my right, and Sirius is on my left at this circular table.
