To dance artlessly,
Without grace or skill
But usually with enjoyment.[◇]
I woke up to three messages. Two from Hale and one from an unknown number.
Hale:
Call me.Hale:
What happened to you?Unknown number:
Hey it's Jessie! The team is practising at my house tomorrow. We want to get a head start so we can focus more on school this week. Let me know if you want the address.I immediately saved her number and replied that yes indeed I was interested. Hopefully, by tomorrow I'll be in less pain.
As for Hale's message, I just stared at it for some seconds, not knowing exactly how to reply to that. I sighed and flopped down on my bed, deciding to stress about it later.

Sunday came fast, the bleeding stopped yesterday morning and I spent the whole day yesterday stretching around, preparing for today. I convinced that I'll be fine for this little practice meeting.
When I arrived, I saw everyone in shorts and either a tank top or crop top, some even in sports bra. The mite I scanned her huge backyard I notice Covan Harington and Preston lurking in the corner with cans in their hands. In Covan's other hand stood his beautiful girlfriend while she chatted with them.
Of course he was going to be here. Why wouldn't he be?
"Verena!" Preston cheered and all the attention was thrown at me. I smiled, not knowing what else to do. Jessie called me over to them with her fingers and I followed.
"I didn't know you were gonna be here," Preston informed me. My eyebrows furrowed and I flicked my eyes to Covan. Did he tell him? I bet he did. "Why's that?" I asked. "No reason. You're just proving to everyone you don't really have the persona that comes with being the new girl cheerleader," Preston shrugged off.
I nodded, realizing that I'm not what everyone assumed I was. That's a good thing right? I'll take it as a good thing. "Okay, now that you are here let's get started!" Jessie cheered, clasping her hand and
I was about to walk away when Covan grabbed my hand. "I didn't tell him anything," he bluntly told me, his eyes holding hope. I looked at the confused Preston before looking at Covan. "I'm sure you didn't," I snapped at him, pulling back my hand. I created distance between us before deciding to tie over my shoe laces so they would he extra sturdy.
Covan studied me as I tied my shoe laces. When I was done, I took a sip of water before walking to the group but he stopped me by wrapping his hand tightly around my arm again. "Are you sure you want to do this?" Covan asked me. Of course, he would bring up that. He must be a really caring guy if he cared about me this much. I stare down at his grip on my arm and I harshly pull my hand away. "I'm fine, I dont need you to care about me," I snapped at him before walking off.
Jessie showed us the routine and we practiced it a couple of times before she stopped and declared that everyone picked a partner. That's when I began to panic because who would want the new girl?
"Verena, how about we practice together?" Jessie suggested. I see her friends eying her weirdly. "Uh- sure?" I agreed, not knowing why but because someone wanted me.
We practised a couple of times again but it was hard to keep focus since Covan help his hard stare on me, never moving and I wondered even if blinked. I tried not to look at him but from the corner of my eye I could still see him studying me. Probably he was just looking at his girlfriend.
"Let's do it all together perfectly," Jessie suggested. I nodded and got ready. Everything went perfectly for the first couple of tries. Then it came to the part where I jumped into the air and instead, she knocked me and I fell to the ground, my arm breaking the fall. I felt a sharp pain shot up my arm and my hip.
My hand cried out in pain but I tired not to show it. I also noticed everyone stopped what they were doing to stare. Jessie had a stupid smirk on her face. Covan appeared at my side, helping me up to my feet. I felt his fingers brushed the small scratches of the back of my arm. "What the fuck Jessie?" He hissed at his girlfriend.
"Oh God, Cove. Just leave the damsel alone! She doesn't need your attention!" Jessie groaned. "You don't get to do shit like that! She could have been seriously hurt!" Covan ignored. He was overreacting definitely. I step away from him, dusting the dirt off my clothes.
"I'm fine. I should go though. I'll practice the routine on my own," I objected. When no one said anything, I walked to my bag. After gathering my bag and chugging down a water bottle on the way to my car, I felt her house with Covan on the back of my mind.
