I left before anyone could even notice. I substituted in Jessie's place at the lead for the rest of the game. I was proud of myself since I only had a couple of days to perfect the routine. I felt like crying, not gonna lie. Did they actually break up? What if they fake broke up. And that's why he ignored me. What if he cheated. what if he lied. My head ached from all the possible scenarios that floated in my head without consent.

"Hey! Are you coming to the party tonight?" Ellie caught up to me as I was leaving. "Of course not. I'm having a bad night so I just want to go home alright?" I pleaded. She always asks me to these parties and I always turn her down. Not to be mean, but you'll expect her to take a hint by now. "Is something going on between you and Covan? I saw how you reacted and I thought the worse," she shocked me by saying.

Her voice was soft, telling me she was hesitant to ask yet she wanted to know so she did. I was reckless, not hiding my worry, and after, I didn't bother to hide how sad and angry I was. "No, of course not. How could I?" I lied. She frowned and kept her eyes on the pitch road. "Fine then come to the party! Bad nights are even better for parties!" she persuaded with hopeful soft eyes.

I sighed, looking at my car ahead. "Please? I promise you won't regret it. I'll try my best to make sure you have your first fun party experience," she continued. "Fine," I sighed. Her eyes widened in excitement and she squealed. "Great! OMG! This is amazing! You follow me to my house alright? I have the perfect outfit for you," she requested and I agreed, not like I had a choice.

We got into our cars and drove off. I waited until I was steadily on the main road behind Ellie's car before I grabbed my phone. I kept flicking my eyes to the road and my phone as I got my father's contact number. When I did, I pressed call and put it on speaker phone. Finally, I eased myself and focused completely on the road.

"Verena? Where did you go?" My father worriedly asked. Here goes nothing. "Hey dad, I'm going to a party. Covan is gonna be there," I spoke and held my breath, waiting for him to say something. I wish Covan wouldn't be there. I have no idea if he is going to be there, actually. But I hope he isn't. "Okay. Come home safely okay?" He says after awaited seconds. "I will. Goodbye," I confirmed before ending the call.

That went better than expected.

Minutes later I pulled into her driveway. It was a beautiful orange painted house with a white picket fence wrapped around the lawn and the house. "No one is home so we have the house to ourselves," she excitedly says. "I don't usually come home after the game, I just go to the party right away but as it is your first party, it needs to be special," she continued.
