Nubivagant:
Wondering in the
Clouds.[◇]
Someone slid the curtains apart to bring more light into our once dark room. "What the fuck," Covan groaned and threw the blanket over his face without opening his eyes. I shifted slightly away from the light, barely awake yet. "Wake up you two," my father snapped and we both jolt up. I pull the blanket higher up my chest since I was only in Covan's shirt. A white shirt so things are easy to print through. "Dad, what are you doing here?" I blurted out and for the first time this morning, I noticed how pissed off he looked.
"This is my house, Verena. Just because you two are involved, doesn't mean you have to sleep next to my daughter every night. Don't think I haven't seen you jumping out of her window every morning at six this week," my father admitted with his arms folded across his chest as he glared at Covan. Shit. I thought we were being secretive enough. "Dad," I whined and buried my face in Covan's neck. He still held me under the duvet. "I'll trust it you both are being um good children because I haven't been wakened up by any...noises. you know, moaning or the bed shaking," he trailed off. My cheeks tinted red. I can't believe my father just implied that.
That's why we've been in the shower.
"You have nothing to worry about sir," Covan lied. My father rolled his eyes and he picked up the golden packet from the floor. Fuck. It was already torn and empty so he knew it's been used. "Don't lie to me boy. I'm smarter than both of you. Verena, you'll be keeping your door unlocked at night from now on. At least you're using protection," he huffed before walking out of the room. The door slammed hard behind him and we finally were free. "That was interesting," Covan grinned and pecked my lips. "Sure," I sighed as I got off the bed.
Covan followed and we brushed our teeth before changing into our outfits for the day. Covan actually had some clothes he left here over the past week so he actually had options. Before he left we remained in bed for thirty minutes. Neither of us wanted him to leave but he didn't have a choice. Today he got to leave through the front door instead of jumping off a tree. I lazily walked into the kitchen with a frown on my face. "Smile honey, you'll see him again tonight," my mother smiled. I rolled my eyes and harshly bit into an apple that I randomly grabbed from the bowl. She continued making breakfast while I ate the apple.
"How about you go to the grocery and buy ingredients to bake a cake later? It will be fun with just the three of us," my mother suggested. It did sound fun and can guarantee family bonding time. "Sure," I agreed. Silence goes by and I'm almost done with my apple when she spoke again. "When was the first time you and Covan slept together," my mother casually asked. I froze mid-bite. "Uh...nearly two weeks ago," I vaguely said. No way I'm telling my parents the details, they know already so I can't avoid everything but there's a limit.
"And how many times have you done it since then?" She continued to interrogate. That's where I draw the line. "I'm not answering that question, give me the keys," I changed the topic and got off the stool. She didn't press the topic any longer and instead, she threw me the car keys. I successfully caught it and left the house after abandoning the core in the bin. On the window of my car was a familiar handwriting. Since the rain fell previously, the glass was fogged which made it easy to write things on the glass.
I love youuuu
-CThe heart that followed after was more confirmation that Covan wrote it since he only drew his hearts a weird way. I wiped it off sadly before getting into the car and driving to the grocery. We used the bake a lot so I have all the ingredients and measurements tattooed on my brain. I parked close to the entrance when I arrived. Thankfully, there weren't many customers in the store so I got everything and paid for it within ten minutes. On my way out, something caught my attention.
"This is it?" I heard the familiar voice ask as I was about to turn the corner. One look wouldn't hurt anyone. Gripping the bags tightly, I peeked into the alley. My face paled when I saw Covan Harington and an unknown man standing in the middle of the alleyway. Covan handed the man a thick roll of money and in return, the man shoved a clear bag at Covan. I could swear I saw pills. The man quickly turned and walked out of the alleyway, pretending as if nothing happened.
"What the fuck, Covan," I spat, walking angrily towards him. He saw me approaching and quickly stuffed the plastic bag in his jacket. "Verena, what are you doing here?" He panicked, his eyes fell on the grocery bags in my and so I guess that answered his question. "Please tell me that wasn't drugs," I pleaded. I knew he smoked and drank in his moments but I thought drugs would've been too dangerous for him. Or something. "It is but it isn't for me!" He blurted out. Covan grabbed my upper arm and pulled me out of the alleyway. He already knew which car was mine once we were in the parking lot.
I threw the bags into the back seat before facing him. "Explain, Covan," I demanded of him. He sighed and avoided my eyes for a bit while he thought. "It's not for me. It's for Preston. He deals at parties sometimes to pay for his sister's medical bills. She's sick so his mother and sister are trying to hide it from his father so they have to find another way to get the money. This was the last time I'm doing this for him because they're telling his father tonight," Covan confessed. Okay. Definitely wasn't expecting that.
I trust him more than anything. His reason was believable and knowing the type of person Covan is, he'll definitely do that for his best friend. "Are you taking drugs though?" I softly asked. I never suspected it but it's always good to know. His eyes widened and he immediately shook his head. "Of course not. Pres doesn't either he just sells them to the stoners. You have nothing to worry about this, Ve. I promise," Covan assured me.
I pushed him into the side of my car. On the passenger side window, I saw something written tiny on the glass.
Love H.
That must be a coincidence. Without thinking of it longer I pressed my lips on his. "You're lucky I love you."
