Furtive:
Sneaky[♡]
I woke up and just stared at the ceiling for a bit. Simply just to wrap my head around everything that happened yesterday and also because the little guy hammering my brain simply wouldn't stop. However, when I heard Covan curse from outside, I quickly brushed my teeth to see what trouble he was in.
I'm so tired though.
Covan was in the kitchen cooking with a towel over his shoulder and spatula in his hand. "Good morning," I mumbled, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. Covan smiled, flipping the grilled cheese sandwich on the pan. "Good morning, I have a day planned for us. And before you say anything, you pretty much don't have a choice. I know we have a hard time cooperating but can you just listen to me today?" he rambled off sincerely as if he's been practicing to say that.
"Okay? What's today?" I curiously asked for more information. "Today I'm taking you on a surprise date. A friendship date to make you feel better. Everyone deserves to feel sad now and then but that doesn't mean we have to pass opportunities to get better," he happily rambled off.
Okay. I was not expecting that.
"I have to go home. My parents are pissed," I assumed and I'm probably right. "Please? You deserve this and maybe we can get to know each other. I can distract you. If you go home you're just gonna be thinking about that asshole all day," Covan begged and once again he was correct. "Ugh fine. What are we doing?" I gave in.
"No telling. Get your things, come eat, and then we're leaving," he said. My mind was filled with swarms of thought surrounding the man in the kitchen. He's trying. He never gave up. He made it his mission to take me out today. And I never said thank you.
"Hey, Covan?" I walked back into the kitchen. He hummed in reply, taking the coffee out. "Thank you. I've never had someone defend me like you do and... it's nice. To have that," I struggled to say and he turned and smiled widely. "You're most welcome. You're a nice person that doesn't deserve to be treated poorly by a loser," he shrugged.
With that, I went back to the room to brush my teeth and I shower. Sadly, I had to change into the same clothes. I considered not wearing a underwear but with Covan around, I needed it. After that, we ate his grilled cheese sandwich filled with heaven and within ten minutes we checked out of the room and was on the way in my car.
"Why aren't I driving?" I frowned, watching him skillfully drive my car. He flashed me a smile. "Because you don't know the location," he obviously said and I rolled my eyes. I turned up the music and let that drown out the silence while he drove. I trust Covan. I have no idea where we are going but I trust him.
Unexpectedly, minutes later he pulled up at the big red building. "Why are we at target?" I asked as he killed the car once in a spot. He ignored me and got out of the car. Rude. I confusingly sat in the car, staring at him when he ran around the car only to open my door for me. "You're up to something," I declared and squinted my eyes at him. He grinned and nodded his head. Reluctantly, I took his hand.
We walked into Target and I'm going to admit it. All this secrecy and suspense really was starting to piss me off. Covan refuses to tell me anything. Suddenly, he stopped walking in the middle of the store. "You promised to listen to me today so please, pretty please, buy yourself a bathing suit and something comfy," he calmly said. None of this is normal. What is he up to? Why is he doing this? "You brought me at target for clothes!" I groaned. "Yes, now don't be stubborn. Meet me back here in twenty," he brushed off and walked away from me.
He's actually being serious.
I huffed and walked to the bathing suit section. Is he taking me to the beach? Lake? River? Pool. One of my ideas has to be correct. Deciding to make the best of the situation since this was my time to forget. To let Covan distract me and to not pass up opportunities to get better.
After a couple of minutes of trying to find the right bath suit, I went with the one I was most comfortable with. There was a more revealing one that I wanted to buy but then I remembered that I'll he with Covan and I'm too insecure to show off my body to him like that.
Along with that, I bought denim shorts and a thin jacket to wear over my bathing suit as well as sweatpants and a hoodie. I walked back with my outfits Covan was already waiting for me where he said he would be.
He opened his mouth to say something when he remembered another and his eyes go big in panic. "Shit. I think I left my phone in the sixth isle. Can you go get it for me? It's near the pillows," he rambled off in panic. I nodded and handed him my bikini. Once I made my way to the isle he was speaking about, I found no sign of his phone. Did someone steal it? My face paled when I realized I fell right into Covan's trap.
That sneaky bastard.
I ran back to where he was previously with my hands rolled. He stood at the front of the store, holding two bags and a huge smile. "You idiot! Why did you do that!" I scolded him. "I wanted to pay and you wouldn't have let me. I did what I had to do, now come on," he flatly said with a proud smirk on his face. I just wanted to slap it off his face.
"I'm going to get you back, you could have still asked," I huffed, getting into my car with him on the driver's side. "Just lean back and relax. Enjoy the ride, we have a while until we're at the destination," he advised.
