"You should learn an instrument." Your friend laughed.

"What?" You had never been musically talented, or talented in any fashion for that matter.

"Here," She picked up a banjo and shoved it in my face. "Play it."

"Ew no, it's ugly!"

"It is not, Y/N, you just have bad taste!"

"Whatever, I also know zero about music so..."

"Hey you could change that!"

Your eyes find a pretty light tan colored guitar with four strings.

"What's this thing?" You ask your friend.

"That's bass. You don't wanna play that!" She wrinkled her nose.

"Why?!"

"Bass player are usually dumb!"

"What?! I am dumb! I'll fit perfectly!"

"I mean if you wanna..."

"I like it." You say, taking the bass off of the rack it was on.

"How much is it?" Your friend asked.

"Uh... not cheap."

You brought the bass up to the register.

"Ah I see you have the classic Fender Jazz Bass, eh?"

"Uh, yeah, I suppose so."

"You wanna pay 50 extra bucks for the case?"

"Yes!" Your friend hisses in your ear.

"Uh, y-yeah."

You walk out of the music shop feeling very accomplished.

"Wait how am I gonna learn to play this thing?"

"I know a guy who does bass lessons, maybe I can get him to teach you."

"Oh alright, what's his name?"

"His name is John."

"Sounds pretty cool, you should set me up a day."

A few days later, she had gotten you a whole 3 hours for John to teach you the basics of the bass.

You were excited to learn, the bass seemed so cool and mysterious.

As you pulled into John's driveway, you start to get nervous.

What if you aren't good enough?

What if you make a fool of yourself?

You walk to the door and knock.

"Hello?" A man opened the door.

"Hi! I-I'm Y/N.... you must be... John..." You stumble over your sentence as you realize how beautiful he is.

"Yep that's me, you here for the three hour bass lesson?"

"Yeah that's me!" You nod nervously.

He leads you inside and you see a chair sitting by a large amplifier.

"That's where we'll be working today." John said leading you to the chair with his abnormally large hand on your back.

You sit down and take out your bass.

"Oh that's a great bass you got there, a very good one to learn on, and then you can use them for your entire career.... if you chose to keep playing."

"I think I will."

He hands you the cord to the amp and you take it, slightly confused. "Um well I'm not very smart...."
