20. power
A MONTH HAD PASSED and Vada's hair went unchanged. The strand of black hair was still there, and she had yet to find out what had caused it. She'd ask Kylo during their training sessions, but he gave her no answer. She wondered if he'd lied to her and never went to the Supreme Leader about it. A part of her wanted to trust him, but she didn't. Not yet, at least.Their training had revolved around blaster training this past month. Vada knew how to use one, but she would've never called it a skill. When he told her she'd need to practice with one, she was a bit surprised. A blaster seemed like another useless thing in her training of the Dark Side. Nonetheless, she complied and she'd actually improved.
A trooper waited for her outside her chambers. Vada, still a tad sleepy, noticed it was the stormtrooper DM-2467, or Dom, as she had named him. "Can I help you, Dom?"
"Morning m'am," he said politely. He seemed relaxed, his arms resting at his side and he wasn't standing so uptight, it pleased Vada to notice he felt comfortable to be a little less on guard while he was with her. "I am to inform you your training will take place elsewhere."
Her brows perked up. "Oh?"
"Lord Ren has requested your presence in the lower west wing, I am to escort you there." The phrase reminded Vada of her life as a Princess on Ilia. Where she'd sometimes be summoned by Lords and Ladies. Though, none as terrifying as Kylo Ren.
"Well, let's not keep him waiting," she responded and Dom nodded.
He lead the way through the Supremacy, a long way. They took several elevators and a couple of narrow hallways until they finally reached their destination. They stopped in front of a black mechanical door.
"There you go m'am," Dom said as he opened the door for her.
She smiled gratefully, "thank you, DM-2467." She was sure to use his codename, she knew Kylo would be inside the room.
As she walked in she saw him sitting on the floor, legs crossed and back to her. The door closed behind her and she walked around the tiny, dark room to face him. His eyes were closed.
"So, what are we doing all the way down here?"
"Sit," he instructed. She complied. "I know you've been eager to move on from physical training," he explained. "I however, am not. But we will start with something else today."
"What are we doing?" her mind contemplated different answers, but she couldn't be sure.
"You're going to connect with the Force," he said, "you're going to feel the Dark Side."
She bit her lip slightly. "How do I do that?" She was a little nervous, to say the least. Would Kylo be able to look into her mind while she connected with the Force? Would she even be able to connect with it at all?
He stood up and walked behind her, where he leaned against the wall. "Close your eyes," he spoke slowly. She did hesitantly. "Now, control your breathing, slow it down a little." He noticed she struggled with this. "Don't be nervous."
Her breathing slowed down and she felt calm, peaceful, even.
She could hear him take a few steps closer to her. "I want you to picture your family, back home on Ilia." She thought of her father, how he'd hug her goodnight almost every day. She pictured her younger brother's stupid jokes and how she missed them. "Picture your people." She saw Ilia, the castle, the lavender and the villages full of life and fun.
She heard him stop walking right in front of her. "Now, think of your mother, how she bled out on the floors of the castle." She winced as she pictured it, even though she'd never actually seen it. She felt cold creeping into her veins and it frightened her. "Think about how your brother was murdered, by the Republic." She felt too uneasy to notice he had told her the Republic had killed her brother, even though she knew it was actually the First Order. "Picture your people, right now, the planet is uneasy, they're defenseless...starving, dying."
Her heart rate picked up again, as did her breathing. All the thoughts of pain and screams made her shiver so badly she was afraid she'd never stop.
"How does that make you feel?" he hissed, feeding into her already building anger.
"It makes me feel...afraid, and angry."
She couldn't see it, but he nodded in agreement. "Good. Now use your fear and turn it into power. Turn your rage into power!" he hissed even louder now. "Let it flow through you, guide you, let it give you strength..."
The images in her mind became too much and her eyes flew open, she was sweating and trying to catch her breath as she leaned on the floor. She wasn't even sure what had happened, it was all so fast. The thoughts that intruded her mind made her feel sick, but she had felt the power it created when she tried to turn it around. Even though it scared her, that power, also felt really good.
"You did good," Kylo told her, he stood by the door, his helmet already on and ready to leave. "You have to turn the fear into power, it's the only way to become what you're meant to be..."
