A HEART FULL OF CRUEL THORNS

"My sister Vanessa hated her position as Serena's younger sister. She could not stand to be lower to anyone. In the heart of the Snakes there is no peace until every rival has been destroyed." - Serena explained.

Marilyn sighed. She knew no other story would be as fierce and cruel as this one.

"Above all, they know how to rule over the minds of their unfortunate victims at will to manipulate them as they please."

"As you well know, the eldest daughter is next in line to become the queen, and this made Vanessa angry. She wanted that position for herself, so she used all her evil witty to become the queen."

"First, she tried to spread rumors throughout the city, everything she could to destroy my reputation.

"I suspect that she enjoyed making my life a real hell, and the more she succeeded, the more she wanted to keep going."

"Vanessa, she was born to be evil. But there is one thing that I still can't understand. Did all the people in the kingdom believe her words?" - she asked.

Marilyn replied, "I know the answer, even if it's bad to say. People prefer to believe rumors and never wonder if people can be so bad or lie. Snakes knows that people are naive and they believe everything without listening all the version of the same story" - sighed Marilyn.

"You're right, I can't find another answer. When hatred begins to spread, there is no way to save yourself." - When she finished saying this, Serena clenched her fists.

"Even the worst stories about me were everywhere, but nothing could prevent me from ascending the throne. I honestly didn't want to become queen for myself. The only reason I did it was because I had promised my future husband that together we would make every citizen happy in the Kingdom."

"Eventually my father, the king, fell ill and couldn't rule anymore. My mother could not leave him alone in his condition, so she also stepped down, leaving me to rule. But before I could celebrate with my spouse, I remembered what Vanessa told me before I put the crown on my head."

Vanessa took me by the arm and looked at me with a look so full of hatred that it would also have scared the devil himself and said these exact words to me that I will never forget in my life

"Dear sister, congratulations on your coronation. I don't know how you feel happy knowing that you've stolen the only thing I ever wanted, but it doesn't matter. I'll get what I want, you just wait and see."

"Then, she let me go. I should have locked her in a cell or exiled her for telling me this, and heaven knows how much I regret not doing this" - admitted Serena.

Marilyn wanted to hug her, but she couldn't.

"It was not your fault. Those evil creatures use our kindness and good heart to hurt us. Being good is not a weakness; being ruthless and soulless is. The Snakes are all criminals and I want to defeat them once and for all" - Marilyn said firmly.

Serena was again struck by Marilyn and realized that finally there was a new hope to cling to.

With another sigh, she continued her story.
