The next day, everyone woke up early and returned to Jun's house for breakfast.
Except for Rainier and Alexine.
The others began wondering where the two had gone.
"Don't worry about it," Jun said casually. "Alexine knows almost every tree and corner around here. I'm sure they'll be back in a while."
But deep inside, Jun had a pretty good idea where his best friend had taken her.

"San ba tayo pupunta, Rainier?" Alexine asked as they walked deeper into the forest.
Their hands were intertwined.
Neither of them seemed to notice at first.
Rainier had discovered a small waterfall hidden deep inside the property. It was one of those places he had found during his quiet explorations whenever he wanted to be alone.
Even though Alexine had practically grown up around the area, she had never discovered this particular part of the forest.
"Trust me, Alexine."
She looked at him suspiciously.
There was something about being alone with him in the middle of the forest that made her heart beat faster.
At the same time, a tiny voice inside her head began overthinking everything.
What if he's not really the kind of guy I think he is?
What if he's taking me somewhere because he has bad intentions?
What if...
She glanced at Rainier.
He was simply walking ahead of her, occasionally looking back to make sure she was still following.
Okay. He doesn't look like a psychopath.
She almost laughed at her own thoughts.
"Almost there," Rainier said.
"Teka." Alexine stopped for a moment. "Lagpas na tayo sa lake, ah."
"Hmm?"
"Hindi na ako familiar dito."
"Just a little farther."
She sighed but followed him.
After several more minutes, Rainier spotted the markings he had carved into the bark of a tree during one of his previous explorations.
His lips curved into a small smile.
They were finally there.
