[11.1] Just Bestfriends

There is an awkward silence enclosing Jin and Nayeon's table.

Nayeon stares at him and she notices the changes in her bestfriend's physical appearance. Hair is a bit long, very visible eyebags, and he really got thin. He obviously overworked himself.

"Are we here just to stare at each other?" he spoke, lazily.

She chuckled.

"Get some rest Jin. You look tired,"

"You asked for a coffee and now you tell me to get rest?"

"Yah, I didn't mean it literally. You are working hard like you have to save the company."

"It's normal. The company is getting big, aren't we all supposed to work hard because JYP is reaching global?" he sips his coffee.

"We all are, but you are working hard more than everyone. I told you, everyone is noticing it and even Jihyo told me."

"What do you expect? I don't have a best friend who will bother me to have fun, so I'll just work instead."

She coughed.

"So you're blaming me?"

"No. I'm just saying."

"We already went on having our own lives, and we decided on that thing."

"Yes we decided but it's not that we both like it,"

"What?"

"It's only you who want that 'parting ways'. I just agreed because you want it but it doesn't mean I like the idea. Until now, I don't know why you asked for that when we can still be that close even if we have our own girlfriend or boyfriend or whatever it is." He expressed.

Nayeon can't reply. It feels like she doesn't know how to respond in general.

Jin smiled at her seeing her reaction.

"There might be a reason why you wanted that but it doesn't matter. As long as I gave you what you want because that's what I've always been doing in the first place, it's a best friend thing right?"

The only reason is I loved you that I have to forget about it because we don't share the same feeling. She thought.

"You know I can't say no to you," he said.

"Well except for the times I said no to some of our plans before because I was busy with something," he chuckled.

"Someone rather, your girlfriend," she said.

"Right, but now that everything's fine I won't be saying no to you anymore. I know you won't ask me about hanging out because you have your boyfriend but still, asked me anything I'll do it."

"I don't have a thing to ask you right now,"

"Then sometime maybe in the future,"

She just nods.

"How are you and your girlfriend by the way?"

He chuckled on her question.

"Fine, I guess."

"You guess? You're not sure?"

"I actually planned to live with her maybe next month or two."

She slightly nodded.

"Time flies so fast. We're really adults now."

"True, like we won't be shocked anymore if tomorrow you're having kids already and you're shouting at them because they're naughty just like you."

"Not just me but you too. I imagine your kid being a narcissist just like you."

They both laughed.

The next thing they knew, they realize that they are really just meant as best friends.

Nothing more than that.
