[19.1] Cut Off

"Oh! Nayeon-ssi, it's been a while." Kim Jisoo greeted. She is already outside Jin's office and Jisoo-ssi welcomed her and she got confused for a while.

"Ah, maybe you're confused why am I here. Yes, I am the president's secretary right now." Jisoo stated.

"Oh, okay. Is he in?" She asked.

"Ye, Nayeon-ssi. Though I don't know if he's up, he's sleeping when I went inside a while ago. He is tired since he attended consecutive meetings here and outside, and now another schedule is waiting for him."

"Jinjja?"

"Ye, Nayeon-ssi. Are you here to give the papers about the end of the partnership? GT7 informed us prior about you coming."

"Yes, I appointed it."

"You can give it to me and I'll just hand it to Seokjin-ssi later,"

"Can I give it to him personally? I also want to talk to him."

"Oh okay, but if he's still sleeping you can just leave it on his table."

She nodded and proceeded inside. She closes the door behind and there she saw her best friend -- sleeping on his table, hair a bit messy and his deep breathing can be heard as she walks closer to him.

There are rearranged documents and an empty paper cup on his side. She placed the papers on the table and went beside him to have a closer look at the sleeping alpaca.

A cute alpaca. She thought.

She recalled that that is how she usually describes him whenever she saw him sleeping. She automatically thinks of that animal that resembles him, and she can't help to adore him before.

Before.

Yes, before. The time when she is so in love with him.

But now, not anymore.

She silently pulled a chair near her and sat down, she stares at her best friend and she can hear the patterns of his breathing.

He must be really really tired. She thought.

"Jinjinie," she uttered, enough for him to hear. She knows that he easily gets awaken no matter how tired he is. As expected, the guy slowly opens his eyes upon hearing someone calling him.

He is surprised when he totally opened his eyes and saw Nayeon looking at him. Even if it is his best friend, he still felt embarrassed by his whole appearance. He isn't presentable as he is only on his white thin polo and necktie is a bit lose. His hair is also messy.

He is about to smile at her but then he immediately remembered, they are not in good terms. He's mad at her.

No. He's mad at her husband, not her.

"What are you doing here?" He asks then stood up, he ruffles his hair and put his hands on his waist.

Nayeon also stood up and gets the paper she placed on the table a while ago, she lifts it for him to see.

"This," she said. "About the end of the alliance."

"You could have just sent it or give it to my secretary outside." He said lazily, he crossed his arms and walks into the table not too far from his main table to make a coffee.

Her gaze just followed the guy's action. "Jinjiniie," she called.

"Don't call me that. We're in a workplace. Have some respect." He firmly stated while still busy doing his thing. His back facing her.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Kim Seokjin-ssi. I just want to talk to you."

"About what?"

"Our previous conversation, you--" she is startled when she heard the sound of a spoon being put down forcefully.

Jin turned around to face her, his expression is intimidating.

"Didn't you hear or you just don't understand? I just said this is a workplace, not a place for personal matters. Now if your purpose here is just to hand that damn document then you should go now, why are you still here?"

She felt a sting in her heart by what the guy told him.

"Really Jin?" She uttered, she doesn't know what to say at the moment. She suddenly got scared by her best friend's behavior.

"Why? Why are you doing this to me? Are you mad?" She asks him slowly stepping closer to the guy despite being intimidated. Jin is just staring at her getting closer, he can see that she is about to cry while looking at him,

"Why are you mad? Tell me. Is it because of my husband?" She stops her pace when she is finally close to him.

"Answer me Jin, please? I don't understand. Your last chat, why are you hurt? What is hurting you? Did I do something wrong that caused you pain?" The guy is not responding.

"What? Tell me Jin! I am confused, you've always been confusing me with your words. Sometimes your actions don't match what you are saying. You literally said you will always be my best friend and always be here and there for me but your actions right now are doing the opposite. Jin, I don't have all the time to understand. Tell me!" She is near to let her tears out because she is holding it for a long time.

The guy stood still and didn't utter a single word. He just stares at her weakly.

"Jin what now?! Explain everything! You just can't be silent, we don't have all day! Just--"

She was cut off,

because Jin pulled her and crash his lips against hers.
