- Kellin's P.O.V -
Did I misinterpret him? I mean, he couldn't possibly be stupid enough to actually admit to seeing someone else that easily, right?
Wrong.
Vic is actually that dense.
I copied what I remembered reading onto a spare sheet of paper I had laying around in my room, ran over to my mom and handed it over, "What does this look like to you?" I asked quickly, trying to steady my breathing as she read over it.
"Aw, he's letting you choose what you should do on the first date?" she gushed, staring at me with wide, loving eyes.
Fuck.
I felt my eye twitching, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be feeling at this moment, I've never been caught up in a situation like this. Maybe that's why he wants to see someone else! Because I'm inexperienced, although, don't some people like that? "Why do they not teach us something helpful like this in school!?" I shouted the question at no one in general.
My mom looked a bit taken aback, "You alright there, buddy?" she asked, no sign of concern in her voice.
"Mom," I clenched my fists, "Tell me the one way to find out if someone is a two-timer," I demanded, sounding angry- guess that's what I should be feeling.
"By stalking th- wait, what?" the words tumbled out of her mouth quickly, "Anyhow, why're you asking me this? Last time I asked you about anything related to men you told asked me why I spent so much time worrying about that, than actually thinking about how I was going to have to undergo menopause in less than two years," she huffed, more than likely annoyed at the fact that I'm always over analyzing her age.
I sighed, "Okay, you have your problems, I have mine, but honestly- whose are more important here?" I asked, "When it comes to two people's problems, it's better to help out the youngest, because he or she are new to the world. Whilst the people your age are closer to going extinct." I reasoned, crossing my arms over my chest as I leaned on the counter top.
She gave me an infuriated look, "What's it gonna take for me to show you that I'm not that old?" she gritted her teeth, angrily- I guess.
"A valid license, or proof that you haven't been getting the senior citizen discount when we go out shopping," I mumbled, tiredly. I really don't understand what she's getting all worked up about.
"You're adopted-" she muttered, "Is what I wish I could say right now..." she added, glancing up at me with pursed lips.
I ignored her comment, "Back to the reason why I decided to come to you for advice!" I formed an 'x' with both my index fingers, my way of asking her to let me explain, "Vic had that written on a piece of paper, and he told me he wasn't planning on doing any of those with me- that if he'd told me I'd just try and stop him, and that the person was important-" I took in a deep breath, "Thoughts?" I stopped, looking at her dead in the eye.
"Just ask him." she stated calmly, "If you jump to conclusions, which is never a good idea, you could be wrong. Then, if you act as if you've noticed nothing, also never a good idea, you could've been right all along. The only thing that actually works with guys is if you ask- well, sometimes. By not asking, you're pretty much giving them the okay to say 'well you didn't ask' after you've officially found out whether you were wrong or right. Trust me, I speak from experience," she sighed, loudly.
I rubbed my chin in thought, "Telling me that you speak from experience is pretty much letting me know that your advice may not be useful," I mumbled thoughtfully.
"Well then why do you ask!?" she exclaimed, sounding frustrated, "You're giving me white hairs, kid."
"You sure those aren't just from old age?"
"Kellin!"

Despite my doubts, I'd decided to stick with the advice my mom had given me. Y'know what they say, 'When all else fails, trust your mother'. That's how I remember it going.
I wonder how Vic will react? Knowing him I'll probably have to spell it out- unless I act it out? Just switch around a little bit of Romeo and Juliet, add in some other Picasso, or whatever his name is, maybe I can also add in some of Poe's art work, with him being an artist and all.
Ah, hopefully he'll understand it the way I have it thought up already. It's pretty straightforward, better to just pull the splinter the fuck out! (similar to what his mom said a few chapters back...kind of)
I've spotted my culprit! There he was, walking alongside his oddly terrifying older looking brother- how does that even happen? Now is not the time to be afraid, I've got some serious business to handle. With that, I slipped on my imaginary shades, and strode over to the boxer and the chihuahua. "Vic, can I speak to you for a second?" I asked, beginning to feel way too nervous.
Vic looked over at his brother, Mike gave him a look that read 'I'm going to pretend to walk away, but then follow you two and listen to your conversation'. Vic nodded, giving him the, 'If you follow us I will beat your ass', to which Mike responded with the, 'Okay, I won't follow, but I'll still listen,' look. He walked away before Vic even had the chance to return a look, I've gotten pretty good at distinguishing people's silent conversations.
Helps me take a hint whenever my mom brings a dude over.
Now I've got chihuahua under my wing- was honestly not expecting to get this far. Where are we supposed to go? Guess I'll be going to the one place more deserted than the desert itself; the school library.
Vic glanced around the library, nodding at himself with pursed lips, hands in the front pockets of his seemingly worn out jeans, "We have one of these?" he asked casually, seeming surprised.
I rolled my eyes, sliding off my imaginary shades, "Do you have any ideas why I called you in here today?" I asked, sounding a lot like my elementary school principal. Gotta be easy on this dense, dense child.
He turned his attention onto me, raising both eyebrows, "I have a feeling it has to do with a certain paper..." he responded, jutting out his bottom lip. Great, he understands the sit- "You saw the lunch menu to, huh?" he mumbled, looking all sad.
Holy mother of fucking idiots.
"The dates! With the other important person! Answers, I need answers!" This'll be pretty embarrassing, if his brother actually followed us, because right now I really did sound like a mad man.
His eyes widened in realization, "Oh, that silly piece of paper! I was planning out possible things your d- Joe and I could do together," he grinned.
"Things to do...with J-Joe?" I repeated, "Why would you want to do any of that with Joe?" what's so good about that old geezer anyway?
Vic gave me a genuine smile, "What's the point of being your boyfriend if your parents don't approve of me? Plus, he took part in creating something amazing, can you really blame me for wanting to get to know him a bit more?" he chuckled, sounding a lot like a child, which really just...- because of his height, y'know.
I stared at him for about five seconds before I busted out laughing, and oh, have I not laughed that much in so long, "You're a real fuckin' catch, Vic," I giggled, wiping my eyes as I shook my head.
"Who has room for another dude when you're with Kellin Quinn?" he mumbled, giving off his whole serious vibe, "Now if you'll excuse me- I'll just Matrix myself out of here, see ya later Kells," he grinned, planting a kiss on my forehead before descending out of the library.
Amazing.
