Bad Reputation

Ch. 8

We left for next period. I knew Tyler and Heidi had class together. I had science. After science was maths. I walked in and seen Chris already sitting up the back beside my spot, he was never here this early. I went and sat beside him. Soon Heidi was beside me.

C- "hey. Your speech really was impressive"
Y/n- "thank you Chris"
H- "the eye contact you two had was something else"
Y/n- "Heidi!"

I faced palmed. Hitting my elbow against the desk and then holding it in pain.

C- "you okay?"

I could tell he was trying not to laugh. Heidi however was. I let out a chuckle.

Y/n- "im fine. Thank you"

Wednesday, 4pm.
I was stretching on the grass area of the field beside the track. I found myself searching the crowd for Chris once again. I couldn't see him any where. I wasn't really expecting him to be here. But I'd held onto the slight hope that he would be. The race number got called out and I got ready to line up at the start.
The teacher stood there with the starting g*n. Ready to give the signal. I took one last look around the crowd before taking my starting position.

ON YOUR MARKS. GET SET. GO.

The starting g*n fired and off we began running. The 300 meter race was nothing for me. An easy win. Next was the 400 meter one, I participate in 3 in total. Finally we got to the 1km one. My favourite one. Still no sign of Chris. I got ready at the starting line and again the starting g*n was fired and off we ran. Once I could see the finish line. A smile appeared on my face.

Then over the speaker I heard

'y/n y/l/n has done it again folks. She's won the 1km race'

Everyone cheered. I stood with my hands on my knees. Breathing heavily.

C- "that's my girl!"

I looked up and could see Chris. I didn't think, I just ran to him. Throwing my arms around him and he lifted me up. Spinning me around. He placed me on my feet and I looked up at him.

Y/n- "you came?"
C- "of course I did. I wouldn't have missed it"

I smiled, staring into the boys eyes when I heard Heidi clear her throat from behind me.

Y/n- "um anyways. Thanks for coming. I'll see you tomorrow"
C- "most definitely"

He smiled. I walked off with Heidi. Grabbing my winning medal before meeting up with my brother. Who came to watch my race. He drove us here and he was taking us home.

J- "you did so well today"
Y/n- "thank you"

He hugged me before we started walking towards the car.

J- "so Chris? Is he the one you hugged?"
Y/n- "yeah I don't know why I did that. Caught up in the moment I guess"

We got in the car. I was in the front seat next to Jessie whilst Heidi climbed in the back seat.

H- "or because she loves him and won't admit it"
Y/n- "says the one whose in love with Tyler"
H- "I am and I'm proud"

I rolled my eyes at her. We got back to my house and I showered and got changed before walking into my room. To find my brother laying across my bed and Heidi sitting in my bean bag. I flopped done on my bed, using my brothers back as a pillow.

J- "you good?"
Y/n- "yeah. Just tired"
