Part 55

                                    Do or Die

     The meeting room slowly begins to fill with grim faces. I take a sip of my freshly brewed tea as I see the last one find a seat at the end of the table just as the clock hits 9.

     "I know this is the conversation we have all tried to avoid that we have dreaded this past week but we have to decide," I lay out the reason for the meeting no use in stalling.

     "Our choice has to be unanimous, even if it takes all day we are not leaving this room until a decision has been made," Hongjoong joins me knowing that us two together can get them all on the same page.

      "So we're just going to take a vote?" Yunho questions.

      "Before we do any voting or  picking any sides we are going to go through every detail, every little bit of information about this so everyone understands what they really are voting for."

"We made copies of all the documents for everyone and we will start with briefing it should be the stack on top," I inform them.

Hongjoong and i begin to take turns reading the dozen page briefing of how in 31 days we have to follow through. The first part explaining where and when and exactly how to get into the building without detection. A full map on getting through to the target location on the second to top floor. It explains how no to hesitate to take anyone down on the way. Every little detail is written for us, it's completely planned.

"Now before any of you object let's go through all the personnel files." We spend an hour reading the lists and lists of all the employees and their willing  ties to North Korea. From the janitors to the CEO. How they all consent to offer any and all information to the company and all willingly help keep it hidden how their phone lines they service are tapped and they listen to our every word even the president's. President Moon found out about the whole ordeal two months ago but they had so much dirt on him they forced him to resign.

"Now that's everything so i guess we open the floor to discussion and debate. Please keep it verbal i don't want to deal with anymore fights," Hongjoongs words cause yunho and seonghwa both to huff and look away.

"I'm sorry but there's no way I'm going to just kill people, I don't care what awful things they've done it's not right," Mingi flat out says.

"Did you not here the part where they have killed countless people, even children?" San raises his voice at the younger.

"So we're going to stoop down to their level?"

"I'm with Mingi on this," Seonghwa sternly adds in.

"It's justice-"

"It's murder."

"Isn't it worth it to kill 10 to save 10 thousand?" Yunho joins San.

"It doesn't matter how many it's still blood on my hands, i'm not a killer."

"They have families,"

"And the people they kill have families. How can you not see that taking them out is the right choice?"

"It's our only choice." I speak up.

"You're taking their side?" Seonghwa raises a brow at me.

"There's no other side."

The good part of the day is spent bickering back and forth no one giving way. We were dead serious when we said no one leaves until a decision is made. So far all are for the mission but Mingi, Seonghwa, and Yeosang still won't budge. The two experienced members haven't said a word this entire time.

"Stop comparing this to the maze runner this isn't a movie this is real life!" Seonghwa yells across the table.

"At least I'm willing to fight to get out of this hell while you are just giving up!" Yunho snaps back.

"Do you really think us, 9 depressed kids can really carry this out? You're dumber than I thought."

"I wouldn't underestimate us if I were you," all eyes go to the end of the table as Wooyoung finally speaks.

"You have no idea what we are capable of, all of us," Jongho coldly adds.

"We don't even know anything about you two can we even trust you?" Mingi fights.

"Oh my god can you not understand this. Say you don't do it what will you do then? Just sit on the couch until the 40 days are up? Do you think they will come in and be like wow you all are so peaceful humans you can go home now enjoy the rest of your normal life," Wooyoung silences the room.

"You'd be lucky if they killed you," Jongho takes in a deep breath and shakes his head, "I've seen the things they do to those who don't do what their told, ask hongjoong." I recall the story he told me after I jumped.

"Seonghwa," I calmly say drawing my loves attention, "Remember what they did to you, the doctors, the drowning, we don't have any other choice." I try to push down the tears forming in my eyes. He silently sits back down.

"There s only one choice," Hongjoong states making the others glare at him.

"We have to do it..." I look from Seonghwa to MIngi then to Yeosang, "I just want this to end I just want this to be over," the tears stream down my face and ttry to wipe them away, "Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll shoot us first so all this pain can just stop I can't do this anymore it's all i have left."

The room lays quiet, every takes a seat as my small sobs are the only sound. Defeat fills their faces as the harsh truth was forced down on them like tidal wave.

"I think it's time for us to vote." Hongjoong stands at the end on the table.

I wipe the last tears from my face, I raise my hand as he calls for the vote and look up and see seonghwa's dark stare is straight at me, his jaw clenched as he puts his hand in the air. A chill runs down my spine as I slip further into my chair as I submit to his glare.

"That settles it, It's unanimous."

The room quickly clears as it is nearly dinner and we all missed lunch. I avoid the kitchen and go straight up to the room. Just as I reach the bed I flinch as I hear the door slam shut behind me and first the first time since we've been here I don't feel safe.
