I'm sorry, Adrien

Transforming back into heroine-mode, I jump out the window and head to Adrien's.

I'm nervous. I really don't know how to let him down. I feel like I should just confess that I know he loves me but explain to him that I think of him more like my brother than anything else. It's the only way I can think of that's not harsh.

Landing on Adrien's roof I sneak over to Adrien's window. Avoiding the cameras was tricky but I managed.

Laying on my stomach I look into Adrien's room upside down. He's watching Alya's blog videos of previous Akuma fights. Sometimes rewinding the clip to show me doing something awesome again.

I place my knuckles to the glass and knock quietly. Adrien jumps and looks out his window. His gaze is straight out, not up so he doesn't see me. Rolling my eyes, I knock again and he looks up. I wave with a toothy grin. He walks over and opens the window right underneath me. I slide down the glass and do some parkour shit to flip through the opening.

"Why hello there..." Adrien starts but trails off.

"Malchance," I reply. "My hero name in this form is Malchance."

He tilts his head. "I don't get it."

I roll my eyes. "Mal and Chance combined. My name is Bad Luck."

He purses his lips a little but shakes it off. "What about your other 'forms'?" He asks. Huh, haven't thought about that yet.

"Gimme a sec," I instruct. Knowing this is gonna take a hot minute, he plops himself on the couch and turns on a video game. Yes, this is gonna take me that long.

Ladybugs are a sign of good luck and fortune. Maybe 'Lady Fortune'? No, that's too sappy. I can't use 'Ladybug' because Mari already has that. Maybe 'Dame Chance'? 'Lady Luck' in french? Maybe I should dig deeper. Ladybugs are meant to be a symbol of life and prosperity, considered to be gifts from the Virgin Mary. Maybe 'Mary's Gift'? or 'Mary's Angel'? In french that would be 'Le Cadeau de Marie' or ' L'ange de Marie'. Those are kinda cool. Since ladybugs are from Mary, they are considered divine creatures. Maybe 'Lady Divine' or in French 'Dame Divine'? I'm thinking either 'Dame Divine' or L'ange de Marie'.

"I'd go with L'ange de Marie," Plagg says inside my head. Why L'ange de Marie? "Because it follows the story about how ladybugs came to be. I would know because I was there." Plagg confirms. Okay then. L'ange de Marie when I'm with Tikki, Malchance when with Plagg. I feel like I'm just 'Y/N' at this point to the public now. I'll stick with that.

I clear my throat to get Adrien's attention. He snaps his head to me after hitting the pause button.

"So," I start. "I am Malchance when I'm your sub in," I explain. He nods. "I am L'ange de Marie if I'm ever Ladybug's sub in." (Can't let him know I actually was the sub in during Evillustrator). He nods again. I let go of transformation so I'm just in my plaid shirt and jeans. "And I'm just Y/N when on my own," I finish with a smile.

"Very creative," Adrien compliments from the couch.

I flip my hair, "I know." He just laughs and takes his ring back.

Realizing what I need to tell him, my face drops. Adrien notices.

"What's wrong?"

I let out a sad sigh. "I'm just gonna go straight to the point," I say. He nods worriedly. "I know you love me," I blurt, "And I love you too it's just..." I trail off. Adrien's face droops a bit. "Not in that way," I finish.

Adrien turns his head to the floor. I can't help but feel bad. I look to Plagg for support but he looks just as sad as I am.

"Look," I start again. Adrien doesn't react. "You are my best friend. And I really like our relationship that way. I feel like I'm your sibling most of the time." Adrien still doesn't give a reaction. "I'm sorry."
