Could you find a way to let me down slowly?

Briar's POV

Myles avoided my question by pretending that he didn't recall what Kiara had said. I know that he would've heard properly if I could hear from a distance. I know there's more behind their conversation; Kiara's always talking about me. Sometimes I wonder why she's with Kolton if still has feelings for my boyfriend. Anyway, back to what I was thinking about.

The real question is why was he being evasive? What does he have to hide? Or what do they have to hide. I can honestly make so many wild guesses, but I hope none of those are true. Especially if he's been playing the two of us at the same time. That would be horrible. For me, Kiara and even Kolton.

If that's the case, then everything is going to spiral into a chaotic mess. I don't think our relationship is going to hold up any longer with all this. It saddens me to think about it, but we've got to find a way out of it all.

No matter what I told myself, I never felt any easier about it.

I hate being kept in the dark about issues that involve me. The worst thing is that it had to come from the person I trusted the most. At this point, I've got no idea what to do anymore. About Myles, about Kiara, about anything really.

~HOURS LATER~

At the end of the day, I decided to head to Myles's locker instead of waiting for him at mine. However, I only saw Kolton hanging around. I checked my phone and there was a few texts from Myles, saying that he had gone home early.

For God's sake. When I need to speak to him, he's gone. Great.

Kolton is his usual self and gives a cheery hello. I give a half hearted smile back, with other things weighing down my mind, I can't pretend that nothing's wrong.

Cutting to the chase, I asked, "Kolton, what's Myles hiding from me?"

His smile faded from his face. I was met with a grimace instead.

A sense of dread crawled up my spine. Something tells me that it's not going to end well.

Next chapter is when things take a serious turn, I can't wait for you guys to read it!!
