Overthinking, always.
Briar's POV
As I turned down another corridor, I caught sight of two familiar faces. Two tall figures: a girl and a guy. They were hunched together in deep conversation, the girl had edged closer to the guy. When I got a better glimpse, it was Kiara who had moved her body towards Myles. On the other hand, he had turned himself away from her, leaving Kiara looking flustered.
There was one thing that I heard her say. "You need to tell her about it."
Did she think that I was hanging around here to eavesdrop? No. I was merely bassing by, and she had to mention that there's something my own boyfriend is hiding from me.
It's hard to not think about it. I don't want to overthink things but I do. I always do. That's what I hate about myself sometimes. It might not even be about me. I hope not.
"Briar, you okay there?" A deep voice rumbled from behind me.
I swivelled around, and squeaked, "I'm fine."
Kolton narrowed his eyes doubtfully. I raised my eyebrows. If he can read me, I'm not going to be ready for it. "You made a frowny face like this."
He tried to imitate the frown I had, but failed to keep a straight face. We burst into fits of laughter. There was the occasional odd glance that passed by. I didn't care. He didn't care either. We're enjoying the moment.
"Come on...we'll go...outside and talk," Kolton said, still gasping for air.
I wasn't exactly in the mood for having a conversation, but I chose to go so I wouldn't have to witness Kiara trying to cozy up with my boyfriend. It's funny because she has a boyfriend too.
As he led me outside, we began to head towards the far end of the school parking lot. Something feels strange. I don't know what it is.
"Y'know, we haven't gotten to know each other properly since you and Myles got together. So tell me, do you play any sports?"
"I used to dance and do gymnastics when I was younger, but after all the moving around I struggled to stay at one studio so I had to give it up. Now, I occasionally do go back to the gym to practise tricks and that."
He whistled. "Quite impressive, considering that I only play soccer."
"For how long?"
"Nearly ten years," Kolton shared a grin that matched mine.
"Are you going to play professionally? I'm sure you'd be awesome at it," I readjusted my bag on my shoulder.
"Nah, I want to carry on with music instead."
I nodded, "Of course, you're a drummer."
There was a jangling sound as Kolton pulled out his keys from his pocket. We were now in front of a four wheel drive that was navy coloured. I froze at the realisation. It was his car I saw that day, but I don't think he was using it at the time.
"I thought you don't drive to school often," I said, keeping my voice level.
He opened the driver's door and reached down for something. Afterwards, Kolton stepped back and closed the door.
"Yeah I don't because Kiara uses my car sometimes," he shrugged like it was no big deal.
Then it has to be Kiara. I don't care that she's already denied it. Kolton told me what I needed to hear.
She's the one.
Here's to another update! Hope you all are well, stay safe <3
