Monday came, but Mark didn't. I had invited him to come with me, but he had just told me his dad needed him to deal with some stuff. So in the spirit of the holiday, I told him that that was his bullshit and not mine. I was going to go have fun on a very well deserved holiday.
So instead of having Mark come with me, I decided to bring... no, not the dumbass Alexander. He's part of the company. Ok, nevermind I'm the stupid one... Moving on! I decided to bring Talia with me. I thought it would be a nice bonding experience for us since we had drifted so much in the past couple of weeks. She had agreed, squealing no doubt.
I pulled up to my work with my suitcases in tow while Talia said goodbye and sped off to the airport to board her earlier flight.
Entering, work people were gathered everywhere whispering about the trip and who would be going. Not noticing where I was going I bump into a legit brick wall. No, this isn't where I say it was Alexander, it was actually a wall.
I rub my head as I hear laughter booming from behind me. I turn around to look at the troll that dares to laugh at me, especially at work. It's Alexander. He stifles his laughter with a fist in his mouth. Keeping myself from scowling back at him, he just continues to snicker and approach me.
After this whole week, there's nothing more I'd like to do then smack that self-righteous smirk off his face.
"You ok there princess?" he asks, smiling as he walks towards me ever so slowly.
"Mhm," I mutter in response and narrow my eyes.
He chuckles and once near me, raises his hand to brush against my forehead. Tingles erupt from where he's touching and it causes me to snicker. What is this, a Wattpad werewolf story?
I feel an almost loving tap on my head as I am snapped out of my previous thoughts.
"Everything ok in there?" He asks with a small smile.
I narrow my eyes once more and reply with, "Of course it is, why wouldn't it be Xander?"
He raises an eyebrow. I almost smack myself in realization. I had just called him Xander.
"I see you gave me a nickname, cute." He smirks.
My eyes widen, but then I relax. There's no point trying to fight his nickname. He won't stop anyways. I just childishly stick my tongue out at him, ignoring the fact that an employee should not be doing this at their CEO.
"Are you coming on the trip?" I ask him, trying to change the subject seeing that he won't leave me alone.
He nods his head then adds, "My sister is coming as well with her boyfriend. She's never been to Hawaii, so it'll be her first time."
I smile.
"It'll be my first time going there as well. I've heard it's beautiful."
He looks at me smiling then looks back at the rest of the people in reception.
"Well, I hope you enjoy it. You should meet my sister sometime. I think you would get along quite well."
I nod my head in agreement.
You may be wondering what the rest of the people in reception were doing. Well, after that conversation, only then did I realize that the half of reception that wasn't staring at us or whispering, were actually leaving for their cars.
I awkwardly nod at Alexander, as I shuffle backward to get away before Liza comes and bites my head off for talking to him. Seems like whenever he wants to talk to me, I'm always the one in trouble. It's not fair.
I huff and begin walking towards my car. Hopping in, I start following the car that I recognize as Sam's. I see him wave in the rearview mirror and I just wave back. Getting to the airport, I park and walk with Sam to our flight.
9 Hours later
We get out of the flight and I can finally breathe again without being afraid I'm actually just smelling someone's fart.
The air here was so fresh and the surrounding area looked so full of plant life, that you felt like you were almost in a jungle, lost and you never wanted to leave.
Sam had gone to get his luggage while I had ordered for it to be delivered to the resort we were staying at. I was eager to see what Hawaii had to offer, mostly the food choices, but the scenery wouldn't be a bad choice either.
Hailing a cab, we drove to the resort where I knew Talia would be waiting for me. Stepping out of the cab, I tried not to be that buffoon that stood in front of the resort with their mouth wide open, but it was kind of hard. This building- er, actually buildings were ginormous!
Making my way inside, people were bustling from everywhere, but I could clearly see my best friend in the middle of it all. As soon as our eyes met, I knew we were going to get fucked up somewhere and pretend nothing weighed us down.
