I can't believe it's him! That douche. I get snapped out of my thoughts by someone snapping in front of my face. I avert my attention back to the group and I see Andrew, Jace, and Stacy snickering. Trying their hardest not to burst into laughter. Sam continues snapping his fingers in front of my face. Turning towards him, I slap his hand back down and raise an eyebrow.
"What?" I jab.
"You were zoned out after you almost yelled: 'that douche'. I think I have a right to be concerned when you were obviously referring to our CEO- who's also the owner of Dental Enterprises. Which, unless you're stupid, you should know is our company. Soooo is there another reason he's a douche rather than the other insults we get from our fellow employees?"
I just stare at him open-mouthed, of course. This guy is the CEO. I glance back at the rest of the group, who at this point are also giving questioning looks. I shake my head in disbelief that I have to explain the incident from this morning.
"Well, this morning, I was running a bit late and my boyfriend had to step on it to get here on time. Meanwhile, he totally forgot to turn on his turning signal, so we got into a minor collision, nothing large. I had to get out and talk to the driver of the vehicle who rammed into us, and it turned out to be Mr. CEO there. He's quite mean, and a bit sexist in my opinion." I finished my rant and looked back at the group.
Jace begins, then Stacy, then Andrew, then Sam, and finally Elaine, in their almost harmonized laughter. I joined in and soon we were the strange group in the middle of an almost completely empty cafeteria laughing our asses off. I see Sam fall off his seat next to me and start rolling around on the ground.
"Of course our new friend already got into something with our mysterious CEO, even before coming into the office on her first day." Jace sputters out while clutching his stomach.
I continue laughing with everyone before I realize what time it is.
"Shit guys," I say between laughs, "it's already 4:40, we should probably head back."
"Yeah, you're probably right Nat." Elaine responds. For some reason, she looked like she was most excited to exit this situation than everyone else. I dismissed it to ponder later.
We all got up and began our journey back to our respective offices. Sam promised to explain who that lady was after work when we would be closing up the office. I just told him I counted on it.
Returning to my office I sigh and plop my butt into my quite comfortable chair. Leaning back, I glance at my desk and realize someone has left a sticky note. I almost begin to reach for it before my phone goes off. Fishing for my phone in my bag, I notice it's just Talia.
(T= Talia, N= Natalia)
T: Heyy gurl, how's work?
N: It's not bad, made some friends
T: ooo any hotties?
N: T, I'm in a relationship
T: oh I know, but I'm not hehe
N:. ....
T: see where I'm going? heh...
N: mhm. I gtg T, work calls. ttyl
T: bye bye Nat! find me a cutie! ⤘
I shake my head and reach for the note. Glancing over it, my heart almost stops in my chest. The note goes as read:
'Hello Miss Gregory, I expect you in my office at 5 on the dot. -Liza'
I glance at the clock as it reads 4:55 PM. I quickly stand up, brushing off my skirt and straightening my blouse. Grabbing the sticky note, I rush out into the hallway towards my boss's office.
The only noises in the hallway were my heavy breathing and quick clicking of my heels. I approach her office door and quickly try to collect myself as I slowly raise my head and hand to knock. Before I could, I felt a hand on my shoulder. Quickly turning around to be faced with the woman who had chased Alexander down.
Her piercing blue eyes almost pierce into my soul like a knife as she slowly smiles like a Cheshire cat stalking her prey. Her look is of a fierce predator who has never had to lose her meal to another competitor.
"Well come in Miss Gregory. I don't bite."
