Caroline's POV
I clenched my stomach as I sat wrapped up in blankets on my bed. I had to go home from school early because of the intense pain that suddenly appeared.
I had nothing to do. I thought about texting Jake, but then I remembered that I had blocked his number. I grinned to myself knowing that that was a wise decision I made. Not like he would try to reach out or anything.
I heard a soft knock on my door.
"Come in," I answered.
Jerry came in and sat down on my bed. I wrapped the blankets tighter around me as I felt my body react with an angry emotion.
"Hey Chocolate ball," He said while rubbing my hair.
"Chocolate ball?"
"Just thought I'd give my daughter a little nickname."
"I don't need a nickname. My real dad didn't give me a nickname and I loved him just as much." I answered coldly.
"Well, your "real dad" isn't here now is he?"
"Where's my mom?" I questioned.
"She's at the store getting some supplies."
"Supplies?" I gave him a puzzled look.
"Food."
"Who calls food "supplies"?"
He clenched his jaw, I was clearly making him angry which made me smile.
"So, chocolate ball, what are you up to?"
"Okay, first of all, don't call me Chocolate Ball," I rolled my eyes.
"Don't give me that attitude."
"Or what? You're not going to give me any supplies?" I chuckled.
He grabbed my arm tightly and started twisting it. Alarmed, I kicked him in the stomach.
"Ow!" He shouted as he jumped up.
"Don't touch me."
His face began to turn purple and he reached over and slapped me across the face. Startled, I clenched onto the spot where he had hit. It stung really bad.
"Look, kid. Your dad's dead. I'm all you have. Don't you give me that attitude or I'll do something worse next time."
"Why did you even come in here?" I asked, trying to quickly recover so my voice didn't sound shaky.
"Your mom wanted me to wait to tell you, but I don't care. You're going to have siblings soon."
"WHAT?" I shouted, "Why doesn't anyone in this house tell me anything! Don't I have the right to know?"
He shook his head.
"So my mom is pregnant?" I demandedly asked.
"No, we're fostering. They're going to come by later today to see if it's a good fit."
"Give me the genders and ages."
He rolled his eyes to the top of his shiny forehead, "One teenage boy around your age and a 7 year old girl."
"And you decided to tell me last minute because...?"
I heard the front door unlock and my mom laugh. Along with her, a little girl's laughter rang throughout the house. Jerry plastered on a smile and walked out, where I heard him welcome the new kids.
"Caroline, come out and meet your siblings!" Jerry called out with his fake cheery voice.
I rolled my eyes and rolled out of bed, managing to straighten up my look while walking towards the living room.
Once I arrived, a little girl ran over to me and hugged my legs. I looked down and laughed as her big blue eyes looked up at me.
"Hello there," I smiled.
"Hi."
"What's your name?"
"Polly."
"What a beautiful name for a beautiful little girl," I smiled some more.
She giggled and ran over to the boy, who had black curly hair and brown eyes. I looked over to my mom and gave her an angry look. She put on a smile and introduced me to my new siblings.
"Honey, this is Polly and Zach."
"Oh, what a surprise," I said.
The boy, Zach, looked up at me and smirked.
"Now if you excuse me, I'll be in my room," I announced.
As soon as I made it to my room, I shut the door and blasted music. A couple minutes later, I heard another knock on my door.
"Yes?" I called out.
The boy, Zach, walked in shutting the door behind him.
"Oh, I feel much more comfortable with the door open, please."
"We never had the chance to properly meet," He replied, totally ignoring my statement.
"I'm Caroline, you're Zach. Nice to meet you. Goodbye now."
He extended his hand, which I cautiously took and shook quickly. His brown eyes stared directly into mine the whole time.
"It's a pleasure to meet you," He smirked.
I nodded and started to walk over to the other side of my room.
He grabbed my hand and started leaning in.
"You creep!" I screamed and smacked him.
"I don't understand-"
"What do you mean "I don't understand", you just came into my house as a brother figure and now you're trying to kiss me. Look, buddy, I'm not playing any games."
He stared at me for a few seconds before quietly nodding and exiting my room. I breathed a sigh of relief.
"If Jake were here, he'd punch the living daylights out of him," I laughed to myself. The laughter quickly turned into a frown.
I miss him.
