Ch.12

Chapter 12

 Luke's POV

"She has two broken ribs on the left side, and three on the right. Because of this, she has a slight case of pneumothorax. So, we are going to keep her for a few days," the doctor informed me. I nodded while listening. 

"Umm, whats pneumortax or what ever?" I asked, sounding dumb.

"Pneumothorax? It's when air is in the space between the lung and chest wall. If it gets serious, it can cause the lung to collapse. So its a big deal," he said, helping me understand. 

"Oh okay," I said nodding.

"I know its none of my business, but Lesley can't have those injuries just by falling up a flight of stairs. What really happened?" God, every doctor was so d*mn nosy!! 

"Yeah, it's none of your business. I would tell you but she doesn't want me to. So, I won't. And if you're implying that I hurt her, you're a f*ck*ng idiot. I love her and would never lay a hand on her. So why don't you go stick your nose up someone else *ss and keep it out of mine," I said angrily. I had no idea where all that came from, but it felt good to let out some anger. 

"Mr. Hemmings, I was not implying any of that. I was just asking because if it's serious, we can help. Calm down, sir," the doctor stated firmly.

"I-I'm sorry, I've just been stressed out lately," I said feeling bad about what I had just said to him. I actually was stressed. Homework every night, dad getting married to a slut he cheated on mum with, my girlfriend in pain, and sleep deprived (but that's my fault). 

"It's alright, Mr.H-"

"Luke, please," I interrupted nicely. 

"L-Luke," the doctor said back. 

I walked back into Lesley's room to find her asleep in a hospital robe. We had already been here for 21 hours, her and I both exhausted. I sat in the chair beside her bed and grabbed her hand in mine. We both had school today in two hours, but we had no plans of going. I could've went, but I didn't want to leave her. I decided to try and get at least an hour of sleep, so I kicked back in the chair, hand still locked with Lesley's. 

It felt as if I had slept for hours before I felt a pair of hands shake me slightly. 

"Luke? Wake up, babe," I heard my mum say. I opened my eyes and saw her smiling at me. 

"Good morning, Lukey. I'm her nurse," she said kissing my forehead. "Why don't you go home and get ready for school?"

"I-I'm not going," I said yawning.

"Why not?" 

"I don't want to leave her," I said looking at a still sleeping Lesley. "What time is it?" 

"7 o'clock," Mum said going over to Lesley and checking her blood pressure or something.

"Have you called and told Mrs. Johnson?" I asked.

"Yeah, she said she couldn't get off of work but she will be here when she gets off. The boys are coming too," she said smirking at me. "Why don't you go to the cafe and get breakfast?"

"Alright," I said getting up. I went down stairs to the McDonalds built into the hospital, and ordered me a sausage biscuit and an ice coffee. I went back upstairs and started eating. Just as I was about to take the last bite, Lesley woke up.

"Luke," she said tiredly. 

"Hey, love," I said kissing her forehead. 

"What time is it?" she asked. I looked at my phone. 

"7:30," I responded. She nodded and yawned. She was quiet for about ten minutes just scrolling through her phone. I took a sip of my coffee and noticed how the taste was starting to get old to me. 

"You want the rest of this?" I asked handing her the drink. She nodded and took it. 

"Thanks," she quietly said. "Luke?"

"Hmm?"

"I'm not mad anymore," she said grabbing my hand. I smirked and kissed the back of her hand. 

"Good," I said back. 

"The doctor told me that if I didn't come when I came, I could have died. So, thanks," she said seriously. I stood up and leaned over to her. I pecked her lips and smiled at her. 

"You're welcome," I said back.
