Chapter 6
Luke's POV
"So, are you originally from here?" my mum asked Lesley.
"Yes, sadly," Lesley said laughing. Mum laughed her annoying laugh and looked at me. I played with my food, not really wanting to eat.
"I'm so happy Luke found someone. He hasn't really talked to people since the incident," mum said smiling at me.
"Really? He's never shut up since he's moved here," Les said laughing. I smiled and ran my fingers through my hair.
"Ready for the brownies?" mum asked.
"Sure," I said back. Mum cut them with the spatula and gave each of us a piece.
"Has Luke told you about that time when-" mum started to say something but the house phone started ringing.
"I'll get it," I said standing up to get the phone.
"Hello?"
"Lucas, it's your father," Dad said at the other end.
"Oh, hey dad. How's it going?" I said back.
"Pretty good. Umm... I have some news," he said sighing.
"What?"
"I'm... getting married...."
"WHAT?!?! IT HASN'T EVEN BEEN A YEAR AND YOU'RE ALREADY-"
"Lukey," he said trying to calm me down.
"NO, DON'T YOU DARE!!! MUM F*CK*NG LOVED YOU AND YOU BROKE HER HEART!!! IS IT THAT SAME F*CK*NG SLUT YOU SLEPT WITH?!?! OR IS IT YOUR SECRETARY YOU'VE BEEN SLEEPING WITH SINCE I WAS TWELVE?!?!" I screamed. Mum and Lesley looked at me with concern.
"Luke," dad said again.
"I SWEAR TO GOD, IF YOU GET MARRIED NOW YOU WILL NEVER TALK TO YOUR SON AGAIN!!!" I screamed, hanging the phone up. I ran up the stairs, Lesley looked at mum and walked to where I was. I was pacing around my room. I was so angry I couldn't see strait. I started hitting anything I could get my hands on (except for Lesley, of course).
"Luke," she said softly. I kept growling and hitting things."Luke," she said again, this time putting her hand on my shoulder.
"Lesley, my dads getting married. It hasn't been even six f*ck*ng months." I said running my hands through my hair. I started kicking my bed and screaming.
"Luke," Lesley said from behind me. She grabbed my arm and made me turn around to face her. She cupped my cheeks and kissed me sweetly. My tension in my body rest and I kissed her back.
"At least you have a parent that loves you enough to tell you," she said once we pulled apart. I smiled and kissed her again.
"I'm sorry if I scared you," I whispered in her ear.
"You didn't. Dad does that all the time, except he hits me instead of objects," she said back.
"Wait, he beats you?" I asked surprised.
"Yeah, I told you" she said pulling away from our embrace. She raised her shirt up to show her rib cage. It had bruises all around it and I gasped.
"He did this?" I asked.
"The morning before I met you," she said back.
"Baby, they look broke," I said touching them. She winced and I looked up at her with concern. "We need to get you checked out."
"Nononononono I-I can't," she said pulling her shirt down.
"Why not?" I asked.
"Dad doesn't have insurance on me and I don't have enough money to pay for it. I-I-if dad sees the bill he would beat the sh*t out of me," she said starting to panic.
