Chapter 3 - Lies

Katy's POV

I woke up early the next morning to start getting ready. I went into the bathroom and started brushing my teeth. I splashed my face with cold water to try and stop myself from falling asleep there at the sink. I then went and sat in front of the mirror and started doing my make up like how I always do it. I then straightened my jet black hair before putting in my blue extensions. I then got dressed into my boring school uniform. I still had plenty of time before I needed to leave so I decided to start texting my best friend from Dublin Caitlin.

(C-Caitlin, K-Katy)

K- Hey missing you loads, how are things in Dublin? xx

C- Hey I miss you so much more and boring without you :( how is Wales? xx

K- One word: boring! I've made some new friends and they seem alright but they aren't as fun as you and the others xx

C- I'm glad you've made some friends, maybe you just need to get to know them better? Are the Welsh boys fit? xx

K- Well some of them are very easy on the eyes xx

C- Haha, hopefully I could come visit at some point and see for myself? Do you like any? xx

K- I have only had one day at school! It's a bit too early to know xx

C- We'll see about that. Gtg now need to get ready for school facetime me later? Bye xx

K- Okay tell everyone that I'm missing them, will do bye xx

Once I had finished texting Caitlin, I locked my phone and put it in my blazer pocket. I grabbed my back and ran downstairs. I went into the kitchen and grabbed and apple to eat for breakfast. Just as I was throwing my apple away. There was a knock at the door that was when I remembered that I was walking to school with Leo. I answered the door to see Leo standing there grinning. "Bye, I'm off to school now" I shouted through the house before leaving. This was going to be one interesting walk.

Leo's POV

I spent longer than usual getting ready this morning because I knew that I was walking with Katy. I made sure that my hair was looking perfect before I left the house. I walked across the street to Katy's house and knocked on the door. I was only waiting for a few seconds before Katy answered the door. She looked so beautiful. "Hey" she simply said as she walked out the door. I started making small talk but it was quite awkward. "You look really nice today" I complimented her. "So I don't look nice any other day?" she questioned. "No you always look nice I was just trying to compliment you" I tried to explain. "I know I was just joking" she laughed. For the rest of the walk to school it wasn't awkward. We jokes quite a bit and laughed a lot. When we got to school Katy saw some of her friends waiting for her by the gate. "See you later bye" Katy smiled. "Bye" I smiled back. Katy then went off to her friends I went to find my friends.

Katy's POV

When we got to school I saw my new friends waiting for me by the gates. I said goodbye to Leo then went to go and speak to them. "Oh my gawd! Did you walk to school with Leo?" squealed Regina. "Yeah turns out he lives next door to me" I explained as if it was no big deal. "I have got to come to your house at some point" laughed Hailey. "Actually talking about coming to my house, do you all want to have a sleepover at mine on Friday?" I asked. I had spoken to Aunt Jenny about it last night because I really wanted to get to know my new friends better. They all said that they would need to ask their parents first but that it should be fine.

We were all talking when the bell for the start of the day went. I had form first and Hailey and Izzy were both in my form. I went and sat at the back next to Hailey and Izzy sat in front of us next to a girl called Poppy. Sir walked in and looked at me. "Miss O'Brien, I see that you were on time today. I see that you have become friends with Hailey" he started. "Perhaps Hailey, you should choose your friends more carefully because Miss O'Brien here has a very complicated past" He really doesn't like me. "Sir, I don't think that you're allowed to tell students who and who not to be friends with. Also, I'm pretty certain that you're not allowed to single a student out in front of the class because of their 'past' was it? People can change, sir, you have to judge them by how they act towards you not by the rumours you have heard" I said. "Miss O'Brien, you have no right to say that" sir shouted. "No I have a right to say that but you don't have the right to tell Hailey not to be friends with me" I told him. "That's it! You can go and speak to the head teacher now!" he shouted loudly. I grabbed my bag and started walking to the door. As I walked past his desk I 'accidentally' knocked his cup of tea over. I then proceeded to leave and slam the door behind. I trudged to the head teachers office knowing that this was going to by long day.

After getting shouted at by the head teacher, I had to go to my first lesson which was science. I went and sat at my seat. Leo was already sat down when I came in. We were doing another experiment today. As we were doing the experiment, Leo and I were messing around. We were joking with each other and having fun. "I heard that you got sent out of form" Leo said while measuring some chemicals. "Yeah, sir was being unfair, so I used my freedom of speech to tell him so then he sent me out" I explained. "Your freedom of speech?" he asked. "Oh, I uh used to do a lot of speeches and things like that back at my old school. When people wanted to protest something they'd come to me because I knew what was and wasn't allowed" I quietly explained. "That sounds quite cool" Leo replied. "Yeah, but it contributed to the reasons why I got expelled from my old school" I said quietly. "You got expelled from your last school?" he questioned sounding surprised. "Yeah," I replied very quietly. I could feel things getting awkward so I asked miss if I could go to the toilet.

I stood in front of the mirror in the toilets for a few minutes. Eventually, I decided that I should get back to class. As I was walking back in to class, Jasmine, Tamzin, Millie and Ellen came over to me. "I thought we told you to stay away from Leo" started Ellen. "So why the fuck did you walk to school with him this morning?" asked Tamzin. "You have a choice. Either leave Leo alone or we will make every second if your pathetic fucking life miserable!" threatened Jasmine. "You can't tell me what to do. So leave me alone" I warned before walking back over to where Leo was doing the science experiment. "Everything okay?" he asked. "Just fine" I replied. I couldn't wait for the end of lesson.

Already I was hating this new school.

I wasn't fitting in.

I knew what direction my life was going in.
