Twenty Five

Amanda was agitated as she strummed her fingers on her table. She is still bothered by the encounter of Romeo and the beggar at the coffee ship earlier.

Amanda decided not to tell Mr. Park about Romeo, the weird and creepy neighbor, and it seemed like her boss didn't mind.

They went to the office a little after eight. She was also able to notice how their officemates gave her a prying glare when Mr. Park unconsciously held her waist when they entered the elevator to their floors.

Amanda decided to ignore their nosy workmates and continued to her place.

Magbubutas na naman sya ng upuan sa araw na yon. She has to contact some people for the training for IT Department and will probably took him almost a day to do it since she was asked to take charge.

Amanda was able to delegate the task of food and certificates to Kristina and to Lorenzo Valderama, their HR Associate, the programme.

Amanda checked her phone hoping to see Mr. Park's message but found none. She frowned and continued her work.

"Mamshiedoodles! Have you heard the news?" One of their colleagues asked Lisa, their HR Generalist, who was seating two rows away from her. "May pinatay daw sa coffee shop na tinatambayan naten!"

"The hell!" Lisa exclaimed which the floor erupted into murmurs as they started to talk.

"Buhay nga naman oh." Winston Olivarez shook his head.

Amanda raised her eyes from the computer when she heard Winston commented as he submitted a paper to Lisa.

Winston is assigned at the Finance Department and was possibly ordered to do that.

"Open nyo yung TV! Nasa balita na yung nangyare." Tristan Uy, their psychometrician, said and Lisa did so.

JNC News flashed on the screen. The room instantly quieted down ans waited for the lady news anchor for the report.

"Breaking News: Beggar found dead by police in broad daylight." News Anchor, Dana David, said.

"An old man who was found dead along the streets near a famous coffee shop was told to be accepting alms throughout the day. Nobody saw whom he last talked to the past 24 hours to find a suspect to the said murder." Flair Del Rosario reported.

"Bale kanina ko pa po sya nakikitang nakahiga dyaan." The guard of the coffee shop said to the reporter. "Aba'y malay ko namang patay na pala siya."

"Paano nyo ho nalamang patay na pala sya?" Flair asked.

"Pansin ko kasing hindi na sya bumabangon kahit nakailang tawag na ako atsaka ng isang street sweeper dyan kanina. Nilapitan ko na kasi parang uulan eh. Nakakaawa baka mabasa sya, kako." The guard answered and wiped the tears from. his eyes. "Nakakaawa at napakabait pa naman nya. Inaabutan ko na nga lang ng makakain at maiinom kapag may extra ako eh."

Flair nodded and signaled the camera man. The camera shifted to focus on her.

"Sa mga oras na ito, hindi pa makapagbigay ng ulat ang mga pulis sa pagkamatay ng isang matanda dito sa kalsada. Ako si Flair Del Rosario, nag-uulat mula sa Scents and Blends Coffee Shop, Quezon City." Flair said. "Back to you, Dana."

Lisa switched off the television as their officemates started commenting their opinions.

Amanda slouched on her seat and realized that she remembered seeing Romeo talking to the old man earlier.

May kinalaman nga kaya si Romeo sa nangyari kanina? O nagkataon lang ang lahat? Napapraning lang ba ako?

Amanda bit her fingernail in worry and concern for the old man.

Bakit pakiramdam ko dapat akong magsalita?

Amanda closed her eyes and breathed deeply.

Stay out of this, Amanda. Hindi ka obligado magpakabayani. Praning ka lang, okay.

"Uy, mamsh, okay ka lang?" Kristina asked looking at her face. "Namumutla ka. May sakit ka ba?"

Amanda shook her head. She tried to hide her feelings by smiling.

"Oks lang, mamsh. Pagod lang siguro." Amanda said and leaned her back on the chair.

"Uso matulog kasi, mamsh." Kristina joked. "Wag puro isang episode na lang."

Amanda let out a chuckle. Kristina knew she's a fan of kdramas. She even joined her watching World of the Married during its trending days. They camped out one weekend night at her house.

"Arasso." Amanda answered riding on her joke.

Amanda decided to save the file on her computer and notice that it was almost 4:30pm. She wanted to have an undertime but chose against it.

30 minutes nalang bago uwian, mag uundertime pa ba ako.

Amanda chose to arrange her things instead to prepare for time out. She can also hear their officemates fixing their things and plan to have a night out.

She wanted to lie down and erase the bad, disturbing and stressful thoughts inside her head but she's afraid, she might wake up the next morning in their office.

She took out the vicks and pressed a pinch of it on the sides of her head. She felt her head and muscles relax.

Then, she felt strong hands massaging her nape and shoulders.

Amanda smelled their boss' scent and relaxed even more. She opened her eyes to meet his.

"Heyyy. Are you alright?" Mr. Park asked and pulled Kristina's chair.

Amanda's forehead creased and she looked around to find herself the only person in their office.

"Bilis naman nila umuwi." Amanda commented and sighed.

Mr. Park massaged her hands and Amanda could only close her eyes from exhaustion.

"Alas singko na po, ati. Pare-pareho kayo ng breed. Impunto ang alis." Mr. Park chuckled and dropped her a kiss on the cheek.

Amanda's eyes instantly opened in shock.

"Para-paraan ka dyan ah!" Amanda slapped his arm again. "Nakaisa ka na naman!"

"Oh! Grave sya oh!" Mr. Park laughed and got her arms. He encircled them to his waist and hugged her back.

Amanda sighed in contentment inhaling his manly scent.

"Thank you, Park." Amanda said softly while she is caught in an embrace. "Thank you." She smiled and closed her eyes.
