Forty Two

"Amanda!" Toniboy gasped as he looked at her, wide-eyed. He was holding his breath as the tip of the cane sword almost sliced his neck. "Put that away!"

Amanda shocked with the revelation of the sword, dropped it on the floor, her hands trembling.

Toniboy stood up immediately and hugged Amanda.

"Hush, Amanda. I'm so sorry. I missed you so much. I'm so terribly sorry." Toniboy cried as he embraced her.

Amanda felt hot tears streaming down her cheeks. She missed her friend. But she couldn't forget how things went because of what happened inside their house a few months ago.

Amanda angrily pulled out from the embrace. She could see tears trailing down Toniboy's cheeks.

"Ano 'to, Jessica? Or was it Toniboy?" Amanda snorted despite the angry tears. "What happened to you? Why the fuck did you have to lie to me? To us? Did you even considered us as your friends?"

"Hindi ko sinasadya! Desperado ako!" Toniboy exclaimed and slammed his fists on the wall. "Fuck! I didn't even know na ikaw at si Amy ay iisa! I only saw your pictures at the hospital. -"

"Bullshit! Ang tagal ko ng pabalik-balik sa ospital bago pa ako ma-aksidente! Yet, wala kang plano na sabihin sakin ang totoo!" Amanda yelled and wiped her tears away.
"Halos gawin ko ng tambayan ang ospital!"

"Listen to me, Amanda!" Toniboy hollered back. "The moment I knew that you are my long-lost friend, I started finding out the truth about you too. The reason why your officemate, Arnold, wants you as his son's tutor. His connections to our competitors."

"Haaaa! So ano ako, collateral damage?" Amanda laughed sarcastically.

"Amanda, please listen! Let me speak, for Pete's sake!" Toniboy complained and sat on the chair beside the door.
Amanda quieted down and stared lazily at him.

"Talk. And explain, what the fuck, are these crazy weapons I am seeing right here, right now. 'Coz God forbid, ayoko magdilim ang paningin ko sa malalaman ko ngayong oras na to." Amanda ordered and sat on the floor facing him.

Toniboy sighed and began narrating what happened to him the past few months Amanda was in coma and how he knee she was the one he was looking for all these years.

"So, yeah. That's it. That's basically it." Toniboy said in finality.

"Wait. You forgot something else." Amanda said, not tearing her eyes away from him. Toniboy frowned.
"You didn't tell me about your sudden sex change. I mean, kelan ka pa naging Jessica at Toniboy? So, ano na pangalan mo ngayon? Besides, ano ka ba talaga? Agent ka ba? Assassin o ano? "

Toniboy heaved a deep breath and laughed, tension leaving the air.
"Oh, God. How I missed you! Pa-hug nga ako, baks!" Toniboy teased and sat beside her. It was Amanda's turn to frown. Annoyingly, she slapped Toniboy's arm. "Hindi ka pa rin nagbabago, sadista ka pa rin!"

"Quit laughing and answer my damn questions!" Amanda complained and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Okay. Fine!" Toniboy raised his hands in surrender and started doing what he was told.

It took Toniboy and Amanda an hour and a half to patch things up and leave the secret room.

Amanda watched Toniboy secured the lock and together, they stepped out of his grandma's room.

"At ayan na po, ang magshuta- este, magsyota!" Romeo grinned when he saw them walking downstairs from the room. "Tagal nyo naman dun! Ano brad? Nakapuntos ka ba?" Toniboy shot him a glance and flashed him a dirty finger. Romeo just laughed.

"Jusmiyo, marimar!" Their grandmother, Lola Lilibeth, exclaimed, her hand on her chest, upon seeing Toniboy and Amanda walking towards them in the living room.

"San ka po nagulat, 'la?" Romeo asked. "Sa pagbaba ng dalawa o sa dirty finger saken ni Toniboy?"

"Pareho. Jusme kayong mga bata kayo!" Lola Lilibeth said and shook her head. "Ano ba yan, hija! Bakit naman hindi ko naramdaman na nasa kwarto na pala kita? Akala ko naman ay pusa lang iyong kanina."

Amanda blushed profusely and Toniboy's ears and neck started turning pink as well. Romeo laughed hilariously.

"Uhm.." Amanda threw Toniboy a quick glance asking for help.

"LAA! hindi ba gusto po ninyo ng pizza? Tara po, oorderan na kita!" Toniboy said diverting the topic.

"Kakakain ko lang, bata ka! Ano plano nyo saken? Gawing patabaing baboy? Tigilan nyo nga ako!" Lola Lilibeth snapped and rolled her eyes at him.
She grabbed the remote at the center table and turned the television on.

Napakamot na lang ng ulo si Toniboy and Amanda busied herself admiring the living room.

Romeo excused himself and brought out snacks for them to eat while watching the television.
