Epilogue: So Is It Happily Ever After?
Josh's POV
(This is by far the cringiest and most Cliche episode I've ever written. Also. After this chapter the book is going through heavy editing so I apologize if you get a lot of notifications afterwards :/ enjoy <3)Callum sat there, constantly licking his lips as if he were just getting out of the Sahara desert.
"Will you calm down?" I grumbled, crossing my arms and watching as he attempted to relax his incredibly tight spine.
After seeing him let out a nervous laugh I couldn't do anything but interlace our fingers and give him a reassuring squeeze.
He instantly squeezed back and turned to me before saying with an annoyed narrow of his eyes. "If she would've shown up on time I wouldn't be so damn stressed."
Right now we are waiting on Callum's sister to appear with her mystery man she ran away with a long time ago. Callum said none of his family had even thought about accepting him as is, which as his boyfriend (an extremely cool thing to say by the way), is heartbreaking.
Even his uncle had cut off contact 'for good' as Callum had heard shouted over the phone at him. Now all the family he had left he could rely on was his younger sister and even then he was terrified. Well, there was also Craner, but everyone knows that drunk ass, porn addict would only stress Callum out more.
"It'll be okay, Callum. She'll be here soon." I tried to reassure again, placing our intertwined hands on his knee.
He sighed, relaxing his shoulders which I literally expected to pop from the tension. "Yes. She will walk through that door and everything will be peachy. Just peachy." He started to laugh. "What a fucking day." He ran a hand through his hair, which after the five months that it's been, no longer had its mullet shape. he looked stress. And it's no wonder.
In a way, you could say that the people that Callum put up with for 17 years, had just completely abandoned him. When Callum got the call three and a half months ago saying his mom was being arrested for drunk driving, Callum simply sighed and said 'alright. I understand'.
I mean, how could you 'understand' something like that? It's ridiculous and I find myself awake all the time wondering how Callum's been able to cope.
My thinking was cut off by Callum removing his hand from mine and placing it around my shoulder. He took a sip of his lemonade and give me his goofy smile.
"At least we have more bonding time." He joked and I shrugged.
"Who said I wanted to bond with you?" I tried to scoot away but Callum simply grasped my shoulder and scooted closer to me.
"You don't? Sucks to be you then, doesn't it." He smiled in an annoyingly teasing way and kissed me on the cheek. "Besides. I was hungry today anyway." He stuffed a fry in his mouth.
I knew he was just trying to lighten the mood.
"You're gonna get fat if you eat too many of those." I said, simply to try and take his gaze away from the door.
"Like you?" He mocked before adding, "fatass." I know he's just joking, so I simply rolled my eyes.
"People like slightly chubby people." I said, "it's my aesthetic."
