Chapter 2: Tragedy

Elena's POV

I woke up in the hospital wondering what was going on. Then all the sudden it all came rushing back to me. I turn my head and see a man beside my bed.

Me: Who the hell are you?

Elijah: My name is Elijah Mikaelson.

Me: Are you the one that saved me?

Elijah: Yes Elena, I'm the one that pulled you out of the car.

Me: What about my parents?

All the sudden I hear my little brothers voice. I didn't even notice him there. I look at him and see tears running down his face.

Jeremy: They're dead Elena!!!! Mom and Dad are dead!!!!

I look over at the man who saved me. His eyes were on me. Waiting for my reaction to the news.

Me: You saved me over my parents?!?!?!

Elijah: Your father told me to grab you first.

Me: I don't care what my dad said!!! My brother has to grow up with no parents now and it's all your fault!!!

Elijah: Really Elena?!?!?! I saved your life and this is how you repay me? At least he will have his sister to be there for him!!!

Me: You're right. I'm sorry Elijah. Can I have a little bit of time alone with Jeremy?

Elijah: Yeah, I'll go tell Ashlynn and the doctor that you're awake.

I grabbed ahold of his hand when he got up.

Me: Wait, thank you Elijah... for everything.

He gave me a sad little smile.

Elijah: You're welcome Elena

He walked out of the room, leaving me alone with Jer.

Jeremy: They're gone Elena!!! What's going to happen to us? Where are we going to go? What are we going to do?

I looked into my brothers eyes and could see his heart break. I could feel the pain that showed so clearly on his face.

Me: I don't know Jer. I don't know. But at least we have each other. We'll get through this together Jer.

At that moment I knew that I had to be strong for my brother. He crawled into the hospital bed beside me. And we just layed there... not knowing what would happen next.
