As much as I'd like to say that I was firm on my decision, that I didn't give into temptation, that I told Xypher that he could take his devilish deal and shove it where the sun doesn't shine... I have to admit that my resolve crumbled. Secretly, there was even a little part of me that was excited by his request.
I mean the fact that he asked for a kiss. A kiss! Out of all the things he could have asked for. He chose to ask for a kiss from me. That must mean that he enjoyed it just as much as I did, right? Otherwise , he wouldn't have asked in the first place.
"Reminiscing on how good the first one was? " Xypher interrupted my thoughts with his infamous wink.
"You wish. Let's just get this over with." I said, walking towards him.
"Well someone's eager." he grinned. "Glad I'm not the only one. "
"The sooner I fulfill my end of the bargain, the sooner Jordan leaves me alone." I tried to reason with him. However, from the look on his face, I could tell he wasn't buying my act.
I bent my head a little, until my face was in line with the teapot. I moved my lips closer to his, opening my mouth and pressing my lips against his soft ones. Every time I kissed him, he felt so real. He didn't feel like a hologram, or like a figment of my imagination. In these moments when I kissed him, he felt more real than anything I've known.
The kiss deepened, his lips engulfing mine, the floating feeling magnified. I found myself moaning into the kiss, wanting more. Needing more. It's like I hadn't known what real passion was until I kissed him. And boy was I glad I did.
"I wish you were real." I found myself saying.
"I wish you were a normal guy like Jordan." I added. "I wish I could do more than just kiss you. I wish I could feel you."
The words that came out of my mouth in the heat of the moment caught me by surprise. They were so real and raw. Almost as if I had no filter at all.
"Wow!" was all Xypher said, he sounded breathless. "That was by far the best thing I could've asked for."
Knowing I had a similar effect on him caused me to blush.
"All for the greater good. At least I won't have to worry about Jordan pestering me all the time." I said, not willing to admit that I was blown away by his kiss. I couldn't give him that satisfaction. It would definitely go to his head, resulting in him taunting me for it.
"Yes. My thoughts exactly." he said, his voice sounded clipped. He looked a little disappointed to be honest. However, my eyes had to be deceiving me. I mean he couldn't possibly be disappointed by my simple statement now. Could he?
"So what happens now?" I asked, shaking myself from my wandering thoughts.
"Well, now I fulfill my end of the deal. Better get to it." he disappeared, without even giving me time to process what he just said.
With thoughts of the kiss still lingering on my mind, I decided to get some research done for one of my Literature assignments. However, my focus kept dwindling between my assignment and Xypher.
A part of me felt like there was a lot Xypher was still hiding from me. I was nowhere closer to the truth since my birthday. His ability to make things happen with such ease. His so called 'connections' that he needs to keep me safe from. His soul being trapped. And how exactly does he have so much of power despite his soul being trapped. The more involved I am, the more questions I have.
I realized I still had the diary I found in the attic as I glanced at the study corner in my room. I picked it up and tried a few new codes to open it, however, that went in vain.
After my fourth attempt, I decided to take it to the pro.
Dad was in the study, getting some work done, just like I presumed.
"Dad, can you help me with something?" I asked, holding the diary in my hand.
"Sure honey, what is it?" he asked, looking up.
"I could use some help unlocking this." I explained. "I tried a few times, but I didn't have any luck."
"Sure. That's Gran's old diary, right?"
"Yes. I think it's going to help me figure out what the riddle that came with the teapot is all about." I knew dad was a sucker for solving a mystery.
"Oh right. I think there's a master key for this somewhere in my room." he pondered. "I'll be sure to look for it. "
"Thank you so much dad. " I beamed, leaving the diary on his desk.
Chippy's little frame trodded into the room, yawning. He was the cutest sight I could ever lay eyes on. Xypher did an excellent job with him.I scooped him up into my arms and carried him to my room.
I placed Chippy on my bed and tapped on the teapot three times, this had become a usual thing for me. Calling on Xypher whenever I needed some company. Knowing how lonely he must be in the dark also had something to do with how frequently I reached out to him.
This time, I was greeted by silence. He didn't make an appearance like he usually does. I tried again, receiving the same result.
I had to remind myself not to panic. It was odd, however, there was probably a reason. Perhaps he was busy with something. With undoing the Jordan dilemma or something similar. It was far too soon to be panicking.
