Having collected his remains, it was finally time to head home. The drive on the way back was peaceful. Xypher and I were far too exhausted from our latest adventure to be concerned about much of anything.
"It was such a close call with those guards." I recalled, thinking back to how much of mixed emotions I experienced in that short space of time.
"Most certainly." he agreed. "I'm just grateful we didn't have a hassle finding the remains." he added.
"What's the next step?" I wondered out loud. "Now that we finally have your remains."
"The Irish priest." he explained. "We need to find an Irish priest to perform the ritual."
"You think you'd be able to help me find one of those?" he asked after few minutes of silence between us.
"I'm not sure, but I could try." I offered. "I have no idea how much of luck I'd have with a Google search." I admitted.
"Please do. It would mean the world to me. And I don't have much time left." he surprised me by saying.
"Is there a deadline for the ritual as well?" I enquired.
"Well, there kind of is." he admitted, however he looked uncertain as hell.
"There'll be repercussions if the ritual doesn't get done on time." he added, probably after noticing the confused expression on my face.
"What happens if the ritual doesn't get done on time?" I wondered.
"My soul could get trapped in Jordan's body permanently, which means Jordan's soul will be lost in the nothingness." he studied my face intently after he made this statement, probably giving me time to process this additional information.
"Or Jordan's soul will return to his body. In which case, my soul would forever be trapped in the nothingness." his expression was solemn as he explained this part.
"I'm sure it won't come to that." I reassured him with a squeeze on his hand.
He gave me a little hopeful smile in response, however, from the expression on his face I could tell he was still mildly troubled by how things could play out.
"I'm hungry." I suddenly realized, and as if on cue my tummy let out a little monster growl.
I could tell he was amused at the moment.
"I think there's a pizza place nearby. I noticed it on the drive this morning." he pointed out.
"Pizza Paradise." I read out the sign as we stopped. I immediately jumped out of the car and headed inside, without even waiting for Xyhper to finish parking, I was that famished.
This felt like I was in heaven at the moment. Pizza was my absolute favorite thing. I was already standing at the counter and eagerly studying the menu by the time that Xypher got inside the restaurant.
"It looks like you're starving." he said teasingly.
"You have no idea." I admitted. "Do you have any particular requests for toppings?" I asked.
"I've actually never had a pizza before." he admitted sheepishly.
"You can't be serious!" I exclaimed immediately. "Are you?" I wondered.
"Oh, I most certainly am." he tried to brush it off however, I could sense he was slightly embarrassed because of my reaction.
"Well, there's a first time for everything." I beamed.
Eventually I decided on a ham and pineapple pizza with extra cheese. It was my all time favorite combination.
"What do you think?" I asked after we were a few bites in.
"It's actually quite lovely." he said.
I smiled in response, still not believing he hadn't had a pizza before.
When we left Pizza Paradise it was already 11pm. It started to rain heavily and Xypher was looking as drained out as I felt. When he asked if we could stop at one of the nearby bed and breakfasts, I almost immediately agreed. I was ready to crash.
We were fortunate enough to get the last available room. It was pretty standard, white cotton sheets on a little bed, a small bathroom and a coffee station.
"Coffee?" I asked Xypher.
"Yes please."
We sat at the coffee table in the little balcony, listening to the rain drops hitting against the tree in the darkness, contently sipping on our cups of delight.
Somehow the tiredness that I felt on the way to this place had completely disappeared. I was very much aware of Xypher's presence in this small space. Our eyes met a few times as we were sipping on our coffee. The magnetism between us was magnified tenfold.
His fingers were drawing little imaginary circles on my arm, awakening my desire in the process.
He cupped my face gently, going in for a kiss. As our lips were about to touch, there was a knock on the door. We broke away immediately, him going to the door.
"You forgot your keys, sir." one of the helpers announced as Xypher opened the door.
"Those aren't mine." Xypher called out, sounding very confused.
"Sorry, wrong room." he said and disappeared.
"Can you believe these people? " Xypher asked as he was turning his attention back to me.
"His timing was perfect." I said sarcastically.
"Never mind him. Where were we?" Xypher asked, walking closer to me.
His bent down, his lips inching closer to my face, they were almost touching again, when someone's alarm went off, leaving both of us a little startled.
"Why are we having the worst luck with this?" he groaned.
"Maybe third time's a charm." I said, pulling him closer and placing my lips on his immediately, leaving no chance for interruptions this time.
Our lips moved in sync, the fireworks I felt still as prominent as ever. I moaned into the kiss, needing more of him. Our hands moved ferociously all over each other, his fingers traced the hem of my T-shirt before he pulled it off. His hands roamed freely on my bare skin, I was savoring the electricity I felt.
I tugged on the hem of his T-shirt before instructing him to take it off.
"Someone's demanding." he teased.
After taking off his T-shirt, his fingers moved around my back to unhook my bra.
I moaned in response, crashing my body against his, reveling in the feeling of his bare chest against my own. Our kiss deepened. He led me to the room, pushing me onto the bed as he got on top.
He hastily unzipped his pants and pulled mine off shortly after.
"Condom?" I asked.
He looked highly confused so I took it as a sign that he didn't have one.
"Let's check the drawer." I suggested, growing even more impatient by the minute.
"Jackpot." I announced, seeing the shiny silver wrapper.
We immediately resumed positions on the bed, our hands impatiently scouring over each other, our lips tasting every inch, our bodies entwining in the most perfect way possible as we discovered the depths of pleasure we could bring each other.
