The List

Y/N's POV
I woke up to the feeling of the sun's energy washing over my body.

As I sat up to stretch, I felt the stabbing pain from my wound pull my body back down,

"Agh!"

I grabbed onto my side to find the bandages wrapped around me and winced in pain as I pulled myself out of bed.

I need to find Tojan.

I gritted my teeth as I dragged myself through the hall, the ship was busy now, there were soldiers and people from my town everywhere.

After walking around for a few minutes, I stopped one of the soldiers,

"Excuse me, I was wondering if you could tell me where I could find the general?"

"Sure thing, little lady. Up those stairs third door on your right."

I raised an eyebrow at him before hesitantly thanking him and making my way to the room he directed me to.

I knocked twice on the door,

"Come in."

I opened the door and General Iroh, who was buttoning up his jacket, turned to me,

"Oh, good morning, Y/N. I trust you slept well?"

"Yeah, thanks. You said if I was feeling better you'd help me locate my brother? Well, I'm feeling better."

He nodded,

"Of course, follow me."

He left the room and held the door open as I followed him through,

"So, Y/N, what's your brother's name?"

"Tojan. He's fifteen."

"And how old are you?"

"I'm nineteen, now about yourself?"

"I'm twenty-two."

"You're pretty young for a general."

"I'm the youngest general there's ever been."

He seemed quite proud of that,

"Wow. That's really cool."

We approached the ship's infirmary and Iroh called over a healer and whispered something to her, she took us around to an office room and handed him a few sheets of paper.

As she left, he passed the papers to me and informed,

"This list has the names of everyone we took back from Shu Jing."

I took the pieces of paper from him and scanned the page,

Please be okay. Please, Tojan.

Before finishing scanning the paper, I looked up at General Iroh,

"Everyone on this list- they're alive right?"

"Most of them are injured, but everyone who was taken into our care is still alive."

I continued scanning the pages.

Come on, come on.

But his name wasn't on there.

I started again from the first page, but again, I couldn't find his name.

"I don't understand... his name isn't on here..."

The general's eyes widened before he placed his hand on his chin,

"Well, there's always the possibility that he escaped."
