Ugh, so this really is a punishment. Anara flopped back against the column in front of the school. Had Lord Death known this was going to happen? That she would have to miss the day the class got to dissect a rare cuckoo and instead wait around in the hot sun for three extra hours? Who the hell takes three hours to get ready for school anyway?! The half-witch let out a sad noise. She really missed that cuckoo right now. It had been so cute when it was alive.

Blackstar yelled. Again. Actually he had been yelling since he and Soul got out here. "Listen up!! There is someone who must be assassinated by the great Blackstar!!" Who is he even talking to?? "Right now, at Death Weapon Meister Academy, one rumor stands out from the rest! They say that the son of Lord Death himself has enrolled," He crossed his arms. "Everyone is talking about the new guy instead of me, I'll have to kill him!"

"Yes of course, the obvious solution." Anara rolled her eyes.

"Clearly, it's a good thing you've got you're priorities straight," Soul added from the pillar next to hers.

His friend snorted. Aren't you here to fight him too? "Anyway, good luck with that," she muttered.

Blackstar ignored them both, as usual. "When the hell is that damn kid getting here anyways!?!? I've been waiting around here for three hours!" Just like the rest of us.

A few minutes later Anara and Soul looked up too see three familiar heads slowly ascending the steps. "Hey, are you the new kid we've been hearing so much about?" No Soul, they're just some randos who happen to be our age with no adults and climbing the ridiculously high stairs to the academy. They're clearly the exterminators here for the bugs we don't have.

"Yes I am, are you here to show me around?"

"Nope," Anara popped the p. "That's me," She waved, without standing up.

"You show up three hours late and think I've been waiting here to give you a tour?" Anara stuck her bottom lip out, feeling a little silly for doing exactly what her friend had just made fun of. Then she glared at him. I shouldn't be ashamed, this was my job from Lord Death. Fuck you Soul, you know that's why I'm here. "You should have been here at seven like you're supposed too, instead of making her wait," He jabbed his thumb in her direction. Ok, thank you.

Kid's eyes narrowed. "What's that? What did you say--seven??"What, is that to early for someone as important as the Grim Reaper's son? Damn. Missing out on that dissection made her really salty. She knew Kid wasn't like that.

He was silent for a moment. "NO IT CAN'T BE SEVEN! SAY EIGHT DAMMIT! EIGHT IS BETTER!!" Soul looked completely confused. "It's physically impossib;e to cut the number seven in half and make it symmetrical! It has to be eight instead! Eight cut in half vertically or horizontally stays perfectly symmetrical!!" He cried. Of course. I should have known. Kid was down on all fours now. "Take it back, I beg of you just say eight, please!"

Anara got up and walked around to Liz and Patty. "Hey. So, is that what took you so long this morning?" She looked over at Kid, still talking (if it could really be called a conversation) with Soul. Dat ass...STOP YOU HORNY BITCH.

Patty laughed. Liz answered both Anara's and Soul's questions at the same time. "Yes, he's absolutely insane."

A loud "Yahoo!" reminded Anara that Blackstar had climbed one of the spikes on the side of the building. He was so far away though that they couldn't make out most of his other words, although frankly Anara wasn't going to try anyway. "What is that? Some kind of monkey?" Liz asked. Anara chuckled. "Yeah it must be a monkey. Look up there Kid, I think that thing is yelling something at you, not sure what though." Kid made a small sound and looked up to where the blue haired monkey was standing. Anara thought she heard the words "are you scared yet?" but immediately after the boy's ramblings turned into a cry of surprise as the tip of the spike broke off and they both came crashing to the ground.
