(Imagine helping Carl Kolchak with a murder case)
Carl Kolchak sat at his desk typing away, he was very busy with a murder case that had just come in that morning. You and Carl were both reporters for the L.A. Beacon, the local newspaper for Los Angeles, California. You were at your desk reading some of the files that you had recieved about the murder case, it was a woman who was killed unexpectedly outside of her hotel room outside of Los Angeles and reporters found out the woman was pregnant with an unborn child. the child was torn from the womb of the mother. The news really disturbed you and it was crazy to think that something like this would happen, but to Carl it meant much more to him. The same thing had happened to his wife many years ago. His wife was pregnant with his first child and she had been killed before the child was born. Carl doesn't mention it at all and preferred to keep it to himself. You understood how hard it was for him, and you can imagine how he must have felt. You would have felt the same if it had happened to someone you knew.
Meanwhile as you searched the files you found something that caught your attention, it was a photo of what seemed like an animal. Your eyes widened and you quickly walked over to Carl's desk. "Carl! I think I know what killed that woman." you said. Carl stopped what he was doing on his computer and listened to you. You pointed to the image. "This black figure right here, it's hard to see but it's there...it's right behind these bushes where the body of the woman was found. It all makes sense! This could be the animal that killed the woman." you said. Carl couldn't believe what he had just heard, it was ingenious! "Y/N! you're a genius! We must get this information out immediately, this could solve the case!" he said. "I'm on it." you said heading back to your desk. Carl followed you back to your desk and watched as you typed up the article for the L.A. Beacon. He helped you write the article and got the information out to the public as well as the officials. The article was a success! And the case had been solved!
"Y/N, I can't....god I have no words to say other than...well done!" he laughed. you laughed. "I'm just doing my job Carl, I'm glad to have solved the case." you said. Your eyes landed on the time, it read 8:00 p.m. "I better get going, I'll see you tomorrow." you said grabbing your things. Before you could leave Carl stopped you. "Hey y/n?" he called out. You turned around. "Yes?" you replied. "Would you want to go out to dinner one night? just you and me?" he asked. you smiled. "I'd love that!" you said. "Great! I'll....I'll call you." he said. You could tell he was a bit nervous, you thought it was cute. "Sounds good." you said walking into the elevator and pressing the button. The doors closed and you made your way downstairs and out to your apartment down the street from the beacon.
