Leo's POV

As the sun fell and was replaced by the deep night sky, we headed out to the docks. I figured that whoever did that damage on the docks the other night had to return again for the new shipment that Donnie found out was coming. The job seemed too professional to just be another lowlife criminal. It had to be someone more significant.

But it couldn't be Shredder. He was still dead.

I flipped over a building and perched on the edge of a rooftop, looking at the docks in my sights. The light from the sunset reflected off the metal containers stacked up on top of each other.

"So what's the plan here?" Raph asked.

I motioned for everyone to come next to me as I kept my gaze on the docks. "Stealth only. We hide out behind that billboard and patrol the area, see if there's anything strange."

"Aww, but that'll take hours!" Mikey groaned and slumped his body forward, letting his arms hang in front of him. "I need pizza to survive that long!"

"Quiet, Mikey!" Donnie whispered.

A rustling sound hit my ears. I put my finger to my lips and scanned the rooftop. Nothing. Quietly gesturing towards the billboard, I jumped across the neighboring buildings with my senses in full gear. The guys followed close behind, aljoojng into the shadows of the billboard. Donnie pulled out his staff and held it out to keep watch.

I unsheathed a sword and looked past the edge of the billboard, seeing a group of foot soldiers and mutants start to congregate by the latest dock shipment.

"Everything should be in order here, boss," a mutant pig squealed. "Check for yourself." Wait, was that Bebop?

I peered at one of the women who crossed her arms and shifted her weight to one of her legs. She had a very short haircut like a boy, a thick leather jacket, and bootcut jeans. That couldn't be...

"Is that Karai?" Raph asked.

"It has to be." She looked so different. But what was she doing?

I watched as she opened one of the crates and removed a large black cube from inside. "How much power does this have?"

Bebop scratched behind one of his big ears. "Enough to explode a range of 2,000 feet, just like you requested. I promise, you won't be disappointed."

"I'd better not be," she replied. "Or you'll have to answer to your favorite person."

That made Bebop tremble. "No, that won't be necessary!"

Donnie turned to meet my eyes. "That's a bomb. She's probably going to set it off in the city and cause a panic."

"Why would she do that?" Raph took a sai from his belt and held it between his fingers, readying his stance. "Didn't you wipe her brain? She has nothing against us!"

I watched Bebop and the other unimportant mutants file into a large truck and drive away, leaving Karai and the foot soldiers alone. Karai carefully laid the bomb in the crate and shut it. She turned to the soldiers and pointed to something by the water. "Foot bots, let's go! Start the boat!"

Why does she need a boat?

"Let's get a closet look," I whispered. We jumped down from the billboard and hid behind a metal structure on the ground.

Karai and the bots filed onto a ship. The robots got to work untying the mast and letting it fall to catch the wind. As I studied them, I saw Donnie slip to the boat, stick something onto the side, and jump back to us.

"What did you do?" I asked.

Donnie smirked, holding up his T-phone. "I stuck a tracker on it. We'll be able to see where they go without swimming this late."

"But they're getting away!" Raph sighed and glared at Donnie. "Why would you do that? That's stupid! I mean, if they're up to something like explosions, we have to stop them now!"

"Hold on Raph," I started, "he did the right thing. We can do this safely by finding out where they're going first before we make another move. Remember, this was stealth only."

He stuffed his sai back into his belt and shoved his way past me. Mikey gave me a sheepish grin, not wanting to get involved, and followed at a distance.

Your POV

I waited patiently outside of the pizza shop, but Leo didn't show. He wasn't answering his phone or my texts. Maybe they weren't working because of the new phone? I had no idea. But I didn't feel comfortable walking around the city alone at night.

Let's see, I think we usually go this way, I thought as I started towards the sewers on my own. The buildings and street lights were thankfully bright enough for me to see where I was going. I walked down the sidewalk, passing lost of strangers whose eyes lingered on me a little too long sometimes.

I kept my head down and tried to remember the way. I crossed street after street, then realized I was passing the same fortune teller shop over and over again. "What the heck?" I muttered. I was going in circles.

I stopped at a corner and tried to gauge my location from there. Everything looked the same, and I couldn't see too far ahead even with the lights. The sky was too dark.

Suddenly, a hand clamped on my shoulder. I froze, then whirled around and socked the guy in the shoulder, feeling pain explode on my knuckles.

"It's just me! Y/N, please!"

I stepped back and saw my grandfather holding his hands up in surrender with worried eyes. "Oh, my goodness, I am so sorry!" I said. "I had no idea it was you!"

He sighed in relief. "Thank goodness you recognized me. What are you still doing in the city? I thought you went home with your parents?"

This is the most I've ever heard him talk before. "Oh, just, you know, hanging around."

One of his eyebrows raised. "It's not safe for you to be out like this at night. Come stay with me."

"That's okay," I responded. "I'll be fine. I just have to get to my hotel, yeah."

"Nonsense, you can stay with me. I've got a house across the water on one of the islands. It's not too far." One of his hands circled my wrist. "I promise, you'll be safe there."

There's no way out of this. "Um, maybe for a little while." Something was very wrong. The conversation he had with my grandmother I overheard in the bathroom was echoing in my head.

But he pulled me into a car parked on the curb and locked the doors when I got inside.

I was trapped.
