23 ~ Heal

You felt at peace.

It had been almost a week since you and hongjoong had decided to leave the cabin early and you never regretted it. 

You and hongjoong spent most of your time together over the past couple of days. You were glad he was by your side and as the time passed the few days helped to heal the pain in your heart as the aching seemed to melt away.

However, since it had been a week already you knew that seonghwa would be back at any moment. You would soon know for sure if your heart had truly healed but as you were simply relaxed on your couch you thought that maybe your truly were alright. 

Soon you heard the sound of the front door of your apartment opening and you got up from your spot on the couch. You smiled seeing yunho carrying your bag as he walked in

"thank you yunho" you happily spoke as you rushed to take your bag from him. You were glad hongjoong asked him to bring your bag back when you both left 

"yeah, yeah. So why did you leave so suddenly with hongjoong" he complained while you smiled "hongjoong got sick"

You and hongjoong had planned an excuse knowing you didn't want to explain that you literally couldn't handle being around your own best friend...you couldn't watch him fall in love with someone else.

But now...maybe you could, maybe the few days truly healed your heart. 

You furrowed your eyebrows as you looked around and you paused seeing no seonghwa in sight "were is hwa" you asked and yunho sighed and he put down another bag, you recognized the bag as the one seonghwa had packed with him

"he is helping yeonsoo with her things" yunho replied and... you smiled as you didn't feel the ache in your heart any longer.

"alright well I have to go unpack too, see you later y/n" yunho yawned out while you waved to him as he left the apartment "thanks yunho"

You sighed as you lifted your bag and went to unpack your things, however, just as you went to your room your phone vibrated. You pulled your phone out of your pocket as you swiped the screen and you were surprised to see seonghwa had texted you.

"meet me at the park" you spoke aloud in confusion but you simply texted back a quick reply as you shoved on a random coat to head to the park outside of your apartment.

You yawned while you walked down the street and you made sure to not bump into to anyone as you admired the dark skies and the bright city lights. Soon you saw the familiar park entrance and you looked around for a bit but you didn't see seonghwa so you decided to sit at a random bench as you patiently waited for him.

Then you smiled as you saw seonghwa walking down the street and you waved your hand slightly and he smiled at you.

"hey hwa" you said as you stood up from the bench as seonghwa quickly hugged you. You laughed as you hugged him back and you pulled away with a bright smile on your face

"I missed you y/n" seonghwa said while you sighed "so dramatic, it was only a less than a week" you said while seonghwa seemed to pout at your response so you playfully rolled your eyes as you gave the response you knew seonghwa wanted and the one that you knew was also true

"I missed you too hwa"

You were confused as seonghwas smile changed to a different expression, like something was bothering him. You were about to ask what was wrong but you heard his phone go off. He sighed and you gestured for him to pick it up

Seonghwa took out his phone from his pocket and he quickly swiped the screen answering. You decided to give him some privacy so you walked a few steps away and you saw a tree right outside the park with a lot of lights wrapped around it, however, the lights weren't on. You looked at the tree curiously but a voice interrupted your staring

"apparently the lights are supposed to turn on sometime later" seonghwa stated as he put his phone away into his jacket pocket and he stood beside you as he stared at the tree.

"I've never seen them before" you said staring at the tree hoping the bright shining lights would just turn on now so you could see them

"hey y/n, that was yeonsoo-" seonghwa was about to finish his sentence but you simply gave him a soft smile cutting him off "it's alright, you can go. Besides you called me here" you chuckled remembering how seonghwa for some reason called you outside.

Seonghwa seemed to stare at the tree with the unlit lights with a serious expression and you found yourself wondering why he looked so conflicted. 

"hwa, you alright" you asked and seonghwa seemed to snap away from his thoughts and he looked at you with that same conflicted expression. You paused as he seemed to take in a deep breath and he spoke "yeah...I'm alright"

"right, I should go" he added referring to yeonsoo. You simply smiled at him as you noticed the pain in your heart seemed to dull away with the time you spent away from him...maybe you really were finally okay.

You watched as seonghwa walked down the city street away from you, the few steps he took seemed to be slow and finally you saw him turn around as he stared at you

You stared back at him in confusion as he clearly looked like he was hurt or something was bothering him

"hey y/n...the lights, you want to see them together when they turn them on" seonghwa asked and you almost barely heard him as he was a few steps away. The expression on his face seemed to soften so you gave a soft smile

"sure hwa, I would really like that. I'll wait for you then" you said as seonghwa smiled back at you

Then he turned to walk away once again and you looked at the tree with the unlit lights wrapped tightly around it and in a soft whispered you spoke out "sure, I'll wait for you here. Always waiting"

You felt the familiar feeling return as your heart clenched in pain as you looked at the ground knowing the words you had said always seemed to come out...knowing your heart wasn't healed. 

Again, you had said you would wait...

However, the ache in your heart seemed to fade slightly as seonghwa figure disappeared as he walked further away and you smiled softly, maybe this was the last time you would have to wait and your heart could finally heal.
