"Alright, the 42 remaining contestants need to get ready for the Cavalry Battle!"
I followed behind Mina anxiously. My anxiety continued to grow the closer I got to the other contestants, especially when I saw the familiar blonde cut that Monoma wore proudly.
He was smirking smugly at me and Mina, the latter dragging me away from him and toward the rest of the Bakusquad. Sero wrapped his arm around my shoulder and sent me a reassuring look that I appreciated more than he knew.
"In the Cavalry Battle, everyone will be in a team of four and get into a horse configuration. The riders will wear a sash that has a number on it and the objective is to rack up points by stealing others' point sashes.
These sashes can't be worn below the neck, nor can you attack with malicious intent or your whole team will be disqualified. Even if you lose your sash or break your horse configuration, you still have a chance to get your points back and continue, so don't g—"
I zone out in the middle of Midnight's explanation and turn my focus to the other contestants. There were a lot from Class 1B, some from the Support Class, and quite a few from my class.
I already figured that the Bakusquad would stick together, but there were five of us. That means one of us would have to team up with someone else. That someone would probably be me.
I snap out of my thoughts when a loud voice echoes through the stadium, "...Worth ten million points!!"
Ten million... It is so quiet in the stadium that you'd be able to hear a pin drop. Ten million points would guarantee a group first place. I followed everyone's stare to a flustered and terrified-looking Deku. Oh no...
He got first in the Obstacle Race and now he had a giant target on his back. I seriously doubt anyone wants to be in his group and have the same target painted on their backs. If no one joins you, I will, I silently promise the greenette.
After Midnight went over a few more rules, we were given a few minutes to pick out teams. Like I suspected, the Bakusquad was in a group and most of the others stuck to their classes, though Aoyama and Ojiro were in a group with some of Class 1B, I think.
"Kaminari!" A feminine voice brings my attention from the gathering groups.
Momo was waving me over, where Todoroki and Iida already were, and I gladly jogged over. For a minute, I was worried I wouldn't have a group.
"Do you want to join our group?" Todoroki asks monotonously.
"Sure dude, thanks!"
Momo started getting us into position and since Todoroki was the "rider", we were all his support. Iida took the head, so he could balance Todoroki's feet and use his speedy quirk, while Momo and I were the back end defense to both support and protect the team.
"Go for Midoriya." Todoroki mumbles to Iida, who nods in agreement.
Honestly, I felt bad for Deku, but he did manage to get a group. Uraraka was expected, but Tokoyami and the Support Class girl were a surprise. I saw the pink-haired girl's gadgets and they'd definitely come in handy.
Bracing my right hand on Iida's shoulder and the other on Todoroki's ankle, I nod in affirmation and wait for the battle to begin.
"Ten minutes starts now!"
Iida is moving fast, but Momo and I still manage to keep up as he brings us closer and closer to our target. I flash Deku a guilty look when we face him but he smiles reassuringly, not looking the least bit surprised that we were facing him.
