Today was the day! It was the day that the new transfer would be introduced to Class 1A. This was my chance to make a friend, seeing as how I'd been alone for weeks. Things would be different with them. I've learned from my previous mistakes with the Bakusquad.
So, here I was, sitting patiently in homeroom. Everyone else was chattering excitedly about who the new transfer could be and what they'd be like. Mr. Aizawa had quickly given up trying to teach over their loud voices and was napping behind his desk.
The farther into class we got, the more impatient I got. They should be here by now... When class was more than half-way through, there was a series of loud knocks against the door. Everyone went dead silent to watch Aizawa open the door.
Me and everyone else were poised in our seats, waiting for the new student to show themselves. I was disappointed when a familiar blonde-haired male walked into the room behind Aizawa.
It wasn't like I wasn't happy to see All Might. He was my favorite hero, after all, but I was really looking forward to meeting the new kid. They were talking so quietly I couldn't hear them, but with the way Mr. Aizawa was frowning, it couldn't be good.
He sighed and rubbed his scruffy face before nodding and saying something else to All Might. He shuffled out of the room and then everyone waited for the verdict. Mr. Aizawa sighed again, something he did often apparently, and then faced us.
"The new student is unpacking their stuff in the dorm today, so they probably won't be here until tomorrow."
There was a collective sigh of disappointment from my classmates. Getting a new student, especially during the year, was rare and exciting. Someone had to be pretty special to get into a higher class like 1A.
Mineta being replaced wasn't honestly that surprising. His quirk wasn't that special and he was more of an annoyance than a help. I tried to befriend him in the beginning, until I realized how disrespectful he was. If he had known I was a girl... I shuddered at the thought.
Looking down at the unfinished assignment, I started to fill it in without another word. Since they wouldn't be here until tomorrow, I might as well get my assignment done. While I worked, the others went back to talking about what they thought the new student would be like.
Right as I got the last problem done, the bell rang. I got up quickly and went to grab a bottle of water before going back to homeroom. When I got there though, Mr. Aizawa wasn't alone. A familiar head of indigo hair looked up when I knocked.
"I... uh... Sorry, Aizawa-Sensei.. I didn't know you had company."
I went to turn, but a hand on my shoulder stopped me. For such a lazy and tired man, he sure is fast.
"That's alright, Denki. You can stay. Shinsou might need help finding his new classes and you guys have the same schedule, I believe, so if you could help him out—"
"Of course, Sensei!" I interrupt him.
I was just excited to be the first of Class 1A to meet the new student. And even more excited at the fact that it was Shinsou, of all people. Turning back around, I wave happily at the seemingly shocked boy.
He was sitting at the desk directly in front of Aizawa's, so they must've been having lunch together.
"Are you sure I'm not interrupting anything?" I side-eye Mr. Aizawa, who was now standing next to his desk.
"Yes, I'm sure."
When I take the seat next to Shinsou, he gives me a strange look. He probably isn't used to having someone willingly sit with him, which only made me want to befriend him more. It wasn't pity, he just genuinely intrigued me.
