Secrets Don't Make Friends

AN: Just a heads up that this is where the angst and heavier stuff starts to happen(some swearing too). There is nothing necessarily triggering, but you've been warned. Also, the Bakusquad is NOT transphobic/homophobic, they are just mad that Denki kept a secret from them.

I should've known that nothing good ever lasts... Especially, when I have something to do with it. Things were going well for me for the first time in a long time. The Bakusquad and my childhood friends got along, I had people who loved and supported me, and I was just genuinely happy.

That Friday evening, after the Sports Festival, my friends and I all hung out at the dorms, eating pizza and goofing around. It was the most fun I'd had in ages and even Bakugou seemed to agree.

Though I enjoyed the time with my friends, I knew something was wrong, but I pushed it aside. I shouldn't have blown it off... At first, everything was fine. We UA students had a long weekend to rest and didn't have classes again until Tuesday.

My good mood was quickly shattered Saturday morning when an unknown number messaged me again. They said that they were just checking up on me and threw a few more threats before logging off.

I thought it couldn't get much worse, but boy was I wrong. My mother always said that bad luck came in showers instead of sprinkles and I had to agree. Bad luck was about to come pouring over my head, washing away every good thing I had in one mighty wave.

Pinkie👽💗: Anyone down to hang out rn?

RockBoi🌑: Well, Kat and I were on our way to do our usual early morning workout if you guys want to join. We could always go do something afterward.

Bakuhoe💥: Why are you so nice Ei?!

Bakuhoe💥: AND WHO CHANGED MY USERNAME?! AGAIN!!

I stopped reading through the messages after Bakugou started his usual explosive antics. Instead, I snapped a binder into place and threw on some sweats and my UA hoodie. Saturday was supposed to be a rest day, but I wanted to hang with the Bakusquad.

Pikabitch⚡: I'm guessing you had something to do with my new nickname Bakubro?

Bakuhoe💥: Damn straight! Something you wanna say?

Pikabitch⚡: Whatever. Mina and I will meet you guys in the lounge room.

After I send the last text, I silence my phone and shove it into the deep pocket of my black sweats. I could feel the continuous buzzing, but I'd speak to them when I got downstairs anyway.

A familiar head of curly, pink hair meets me at the stairs and we walk down together, making the occasional small talk. Mina and Yima had really hit it off and I secretly had my fingers crossed that they'd get together.

Yima shucked the shy shell she had when she first met Mina and spent most of the time we were all hanging out flirting with her. I wasn't aware that my lime-haired friend even knew how to flirt, but she learned from the best.

"Are you alright? You've seemed a bit off this morning..." Mina mumbles, glancing at me with barely-concealed concern.

I chuckle and force the tenseness out of my shoulders. The text and the unknown messenger must've gotten to me more than I thought... Shaking it off, I turn to her with a large grin and give her my infamous double thumbs up.

"All is good, Mama Mina!"

She tips her head back and laughs at the nickname, her concerns now forgotten. I suddenly remembered one person I hadn't heard from since Friday evening.
