“They just look so peaceful, let them sleep they’ve been through enough.” I vaguely heard a male voice speak as I drifted between consciousness and asleep.

“I will not leave my children asleep in a hole under the stairs!” Said a stern motherly voice, like the one that use to wake me for school as a kid.

Slowly I started pushing myself up, my eyes didn’t open but my lips began to mutter, “I’m awake mama.” I let out a big yawn, “Go wake up Mike.” I started to rub my eyes wiping away the dream I just had.

Then a third voice said, “Yep she’s losing it.”

“Hikaru!” Said the first voice that I now know is not my father.

I opened my eyes to see a misted dark area with shadows all around me. The smallest of the shadows started to get closer to me as I sat there on the floor of this dark and unfamiliar place. I seen a hand reach out for me but I backed away until I could go back no farther.

“Brianna,” ever so softly the female voice who I know now is not my mother spoke my name.

I opened my mouth and out came a loud sob as I cried out, “Where’s my mom?!”

I light shined on me reviling the hot tears going down my cheeks. I looked around the darkness in panic as everything started to come back to me. I took a few deep breaths and Mrs. Hitachiin asked in her soft voice, “Bri… Darling, is everything alright?”

I took another deep breath pulling my knees to my chest, “I dreamt I was home. It just felt so real like all this time this has really been the dream, and all this time I’ve been at home in my bed.” I took one more deep breath and wiped away any remaining tears, “I’m fine.” I said as I stood up, “Now how do we get out of here?”

Karou’s voice sounded through the darkness, “Hikaru, what entrance did you use?”

Hikaru, who I now know is holding the light, backed up a few steps and pushed on the wall. It swung open and light came pouring into the dark tunnels. He turned and smiled to us, “I used Aunty Shissa’s portrait.”

One by one we hopped from the hole in the wall into one of the hallways. “So everyone is gone?” Asked Kaoru.

“Holly and your friends are still here. The intruders left after raiding the house in search for you,” Mr. H explained.

Mrs.H smiled to Kaoru saying,”Thank goodness Kaoru remembered the tunnels in the walls. The boys use to always play in there so we had more entrances made.”

“The cops are here now; they’re talking to everyone trying to get a full report on what happened.” Hikaru explained as we entered a sitting room filled with people.

The moment I stepped in Aunty Shissa pointed at me yelling, “It’s all her fault! Get her away from this family! I knew that girl was nothing but trouble, GET HER OUT!”
