CALUMS POV
Luke and I had took a slow walk to the Anchor, we had until 9PM until we were getting picked up, so we had a long time. I mean, we had already eaten, and me and Luke have sat in a pub for hours and hours before. But after we got there, Luke disappeared for a while. Said he was going to the toilet but he took at least ten minutes, I was getting slightly concerned before he came back and acted as though everything was normal. "Sorry, my mum rang me" he said as he took the letters out of his pocket. "Mummys boy!" A customer yelled. "Putain de sakè! Fuck off you twat!" He exclaimed at the customers. They seemed to not understand French so they just came out with a big "PFFFFTT!". "Yeah she's fine, she says hi" Luke added. I miss Liz, I get on with her so well.
We handed in our letters of resignation to Steve, and in all honesty he seemed gutted but at the same time happy for us. He finished reading the letters. "oH...I had a feeling this would happen soon...you guys got those jobs you were after then?" He asked. I nodded and explained to him our new positions and how hard we worked to get them. Steve seemed happy for us, so he congratulated us and pulled us our favourite pint and said it was on the house. Honestly I was grateful to have someone like Steve in our lives and it's gonna be so sad not working for him anymore. But there's one thing I do feel confident about. If we fuck up our new jobs, he will absolutely take us back within a heartbeat and I appreciate that. Steve smiles at us and went to collect glasses as me and Luke sat in the beer garden.
"So tell me about your new boss." I sat down and had a cheeky sip of my pint as Luke did the same. "His name is Dave. He's a laugh you could say. But he wears a erm...err...um a..that hat...with a erm...er animal thing..." Luke stuttered. The fuck was he going on about? After all these years and he's still fucking stuttering, never was much of a talker but I guess he still isn't now. "Sorry, a- a what? Luke you've been doing so well at talk normally lately, then you slip up after three and a half years? Jesus!" I chuckled, hoping he wouldn't take it the wrong way. But apparently he did, which made me feel bad. I could tell by his expression he thought I was making fun of him. "You know I don't mean it like that, don't pout at me like that" I cupped his cheeks and gave him a kiss. "Mhm I know..sorry.." he said slowly. I could still tell something was wrong. Maybe once his boss got here he'd feel better? I certainly hope so, it's our last weekend off together before we start our new jobs. "That's my boy" I said trying to keep the positivity.
We spent the afternoon in the anchor, having a last few drinks with Steve. He told us not to worry about doing our notice as his neighbours daughter was looking for a new job behind the bar, all worked out well for us in the end, right? It came to the time that Luke's manager picked us up, he was waiting with a taxi. It took me a while to find him, but as I looked towards the taxi, I saw a large man wearing a suit and a pikachu hat. Must be some poor patient that escaped from our town's mental health institution right? Right? Okay seriously, where the fuck is Luke's manager. Wait...WAIT?! "Luke...erm..is that him?" I asked, hoping he wouldn't be insulted with how I asked with such confusion. The fuck is that on his head? "Yeah that's him! Come on" Luke looked over towards the man. I was honestly lost for words, who goes out to a new bar wearing something like that on their head? Luke held my hand and then gave me a reassuring smile. "Is that..." I paused. "Yeah that's the um...erm..errr th- the hat thing yknow when I- when I said in the pub shit no sorry I'm doing it again FUCKS SAKE" Luke slapped his hand against his forehead as he stuttered. I started to shake him gently, "Stop! You're fine, you're fine! You're just nervous, he's your new boss." I reassured him. We walked over to the taxi, I just pretended he wasn't wearing that dumb hat. For now. "Hi I'm Calum!" I sh00k Dave's hand formally, hoping it would help calm Luke's nerves. He was such an anxious mess and the last thing I wanted to do was exacerbate that. I noticed that in his other hand he was holding a cigarette, which slightly put me off. I can't stand smoking at the best of times, I even stopped using tobacco when I rolled myself a joint. I just hate the stuff. "Hey guys! Great to finally meet you Calum, heard a lot of great stuff about you." He opened the door for us and we got in the taxi. He seemed nice enough right? "Great to meet you too! So what's this place called?" I asked again out of curiosity. I knew that Luke had already told me but I craved to know what it stood for. "Don't know they full name but CCIM, fuck knows what it stands for BAHAHA" he chuckled. Well shit, guess I'll find out when I get there. It's a good job I kept talking because Luke was awkwardly silent like always. "oH? I wonder what it could be." I stared out the window as the driver continued to drive us to the club. But I was sure to find out what the club was called. We got out of the taxi and I peered up at a large pink sign that read.... ugh.
