HOLY FUCKING SHIT FORTY CHAPTERS AND I OOPSKSKSKKS also this chapter may be fairly short, as Luke's POV is quite a big chunk after this, you know for saying I'm a Calum girl I must admit I ADORE writing Luke's POVS so much GAHHHH
//////////////////////////////////////Calum's POV:
It was Friday morning, and I was ready for my last day of work before the weekend gets here. I'm starting to think things are getting better. What a beautiful day we had yesterday. Everything was so perfect right now, and when we get married things will be even more amazing. When Luke and I woke up and had our regular morning except... we had changed one thing. We were applying our tattoo aftercare! Luke was again drinking too much coffee. He was on his second coffee and he was chugging it. "Be careful downing that!" "Sorry sorry! I can't help it!" He placed his mug back on the side. Well I think it's about time Luke and I had a chat about this. "Darling... you're getting a bad caffeine addiction now. It's hanging around with Dave so much...but I can't really talk, getting you so much coffee stuff for our anniversary" I chuckled. I guess I was partially to blame, not just Dave. As I was talking to him he was making another coffee, which had me feeling a little bit 😶 about everything. "Nah it's not that bad... I'll only have like, pfft twelve coffees a day" he shrugged as if that's not bad! But it's very bad! He could have serious heart problems later on in life! "What?! Luke you shouldn't be having that many!" I almost choked on my own coffee as he admitted to me how many he has been having. "Okay okay fine I'll be honest! It's more like...fourteen.." he mumbled. He's joking right? Surely he's pulling my leg? This can't be! It can't be possible! That's not right! "Luke.." I sighed heavily. "This needs to stop okay? I feel bad for encouraging it" I admitted. "Don't feel bad, I'll cut down okay? I promise" he sipped his coffee like 😶 and I was just hoping it's a promise he will keep, because I care about his health. "Promise? You'll have heart problems if not" I tried to scare him with facts. "I pinky promise" he held out his pinky and I let my pinky join with his. You can swear on someone's good name, or swear on someone's grave, but a pinky swear is the only real promise I believe. Don't ask why, it's something I've done since I was a child. That's when I knew I should trust Luke. When we got ready, I offered to drop Luke off at work. I start work 3 hours after him, so if I've got time I'll do it, I hate the thought of him getting public transport with the amount of freaks around us. You've met a fair few of them in this book Hmm. I guess it was nice being able to have a few hours to myself before work, me starting at lunch means I get the entire morning to get ready and binge watch my true crime shows. I however couldn't take my mind off how Luke must be coping at work, there was a few rumours going around at school the past few weeks about what Luke was accused of, even though he's been proven innocent. And are you guys ready for the good news? Cameron is in prison! The little rat finally got what he deserved! He already went to prison once for his misconduct with me when I was a student, but the fact that he's done it twice has earned him an even longer sentence in prison, and let me tell you. I really fucking hope someone in there makes him his bitch. As well as serving his sentence, he is no longer allowed to teach in a school again regardless of how long it took him to earn his qualification. Luke worked hard for his teaching diploma, and I know he will use it wisely. I'm super proud of him. Arzaylea went to court with him and she was forced to tell the truth, but because she's seen as a "victim" the girl has been given a place back at school after serving a two week suspension, which I personally think is a joke. Luke had a chat with Dave, and Dave promised he would try to keep Arzaylea under control and if she acts a certain way towards him or any other staff member again she will be expelled.
I was a little nervous to get to work if I were being completely honest, because I wasn't sure if today was going to be the day that Steve asked me to be a team leader. I feel as though now is the perfect time to maybe mention it, or hint it, because the Team Leader we had before Janet retired last weekend, and Steve has been managing everything by himself. I'm starting to think he's struggling, especially because he doesn't have me there on weekends and it's all students working Saturdays and Sundays. Janet had been a Team Leader for about 5 years, but we knew she was going to retire from the industry. I just hope that the whole jail situation hadn't fucked anything up for me, especially because of how much I want this. Hopefully the fact that I had explained my situation to Steve, he's understanding and still gives me that opportunity.
My shift was a little chaotic but then calmed down end it was a very easy going dat. After my long day at work, it was time for cleaning behind the bar, and every now and then Steve and I have a pint at the end to unwind once we've finished cleaning everything up. He looked as though he was about to ask me something important. "It's been a quiet one tonight! It got a little rowdy earlier but at least everyone's gone" I just finished bottling up the stock. "Yeah that's true! Which reminds me, I was going to ask you earlier but then we got battered.... how would you feel about becoming a Team Leader?" He said rather casually. I blinked and took a second to process the question, wondering if he actually asked me that or if I was hearing things again. "What..? Steve, are you serious? I'd love to!" I finished bottling up and looked at him with glee. I felt bad that it took Janet retiring for him to promote me, but it's a career path I'm willing to stick to and move up in. I know I want this. Steve smiled "of course I'm serious! I've wanted to ask you since you came back, but you and Luke have a lot going on right now so I decided to wait until things calmed down a bit" honestly hearing hun say that made things so much better, to think that he was going to promote me regardless made me feel so good about myself. "Thank you! Thank you so much! I have wanted this for a while but I thought that this whole thing with me going to jail was going to fuck it up" I shrugged as I finished tidying and sat with Steve and our two ice cold pints. This was truly the best way to end a shift. "Oh no don't be silly! You were framed! I still can't believe that happened to you two, I can't imagine how awful must it must have been" he sh00k his head at my misfortunes, but I tried not to think about it. With this good news, nothing was going to ruin the vibe. This was something good. Something really good, something to look forward to in my life. "I'm so glad you understand...yeah it was tough, but it's a part of my life that's finally over. So when did you want me to start my training?" I asked. "Yeah I get you.... how about Monday? New week, fresh start" he took a sip of his pint as we clinked glasses. "Thanks mate! I look forward to it" I then took a sip from my pint and decided to ask him about the wedding. "So... you're coming to the wedding right? On my side I'll be having my family and Frank on the front row but I'm looking at having you on the second!" "Of course! I'm really looking forward to it. You and Luke are the best couple ever. You're like two peas in a pod" he giggled. He's always loved me and Luke together, I mean we were very young when we met Steve and started working at the anchor. "You really think so?" I necked my pint wanting to get off. "Definitely!" Steve then downed his. LOL. "You'll have to bring Luke here soon so I can see you guys be all cute together, I miss that blonde lad" he chuckled. "Definitely! Hey I was thinking, why don't we have the bachelor party here?" I went to put the empty glasses in the glass washer and started mopping the bar ready to close. Whilst mopping, Steve asked me if anymore stalker shit had been happening, but to be honest, not really. I felt as though when we came out of prison, whoever was doing it must have gotten bored and stopped. "Right, think I'm about done here, you counted the till?" I asked him. "Yeah yeah all done mate, you head home to your lover" he chuckled. "I'll see you Monday, let me know if you need me to cover at any point this weekend" I smiled and emptied the mop bucket in the waste and started gathering my things. "Will do!" He smiled.
I then left ready to go home. What a positive day, looks as though things are gonna get better for me!
