"Do you...Do you want to watch the lights some time?" I ask, my heartbeat almost losing its pace.
Damn it. I couldn't ask him. I was hesitating. Why would I ask him that question, when even I don't know the answer to myself if I even like him? Deep in my heart, the burning question lingered. But a strong wave of hesitance and uncertainty lead me to ask that question.
I was playing safe. After all, he's the top most powerful man in my job, and I can't afford ruining my job just by asking him a question that's out of my reality. Seriously. Not to degrade myself, but there are plenty of options Chan has.
I don't believe in connections or soulmates.
Not anymore.
His expression was shocked, as if he didn't expect me to ask such a question. After moments of me waiting, he finally nodded. He gave me a subtle smile.
"I'll let you know if I have the time to." He puts his hand on top of my head, his palm then gently combing my hair.
"I told you to bring a hairtie." He tilted his head.
"Why, though?" I asked, making him exhale through his nose.
"If you're thinking of something inappropriate, it's definitely not that." He chuckles, making blood flush right to my cheeks. This guy, seriously! I'm not even a bit close to thinking of anything lustful and lascivious.
"No- I wasn't even thinking of anything." I denied, crossing my arms and raising an eyebrow.
"You don't say?" He asks, then looks up. I look at the direction in which he's gazing at, maybe a cloud or the sun, but no. It's a damn helicopter.
"Our ride's here." He simply says, making me want to jump off this building. Ride? He's taking me on a helicopter? How rich is this guy? Well, very...But to go on a date on a helicopter seems very extra.
"That's...OUR RIDE?" I scream, seeing that the helicopter was slowly landing on the pad, making my hair burst everywhere in all directions. So this is why Chan wanted me to bring a hairtie. I probably look like Medusa as of this moment.
"I told you to bring one, now here you are looking like some...I don't even know." Chan remarked, making me shoot him a dirty to look, to which he smiled amusedly at.
He chuckles, then did something I did not expect him to do. At all.
He uses his body to block the air coming from the helicopter's propellers placing his hands on my back. He placed his coat over me, tucking my hair inside. A simple gesture that lead my guts unwind and my heart tremble.
"So that your hair won't get frizzy later." He says, then waits for the helicopter to finally land, right beside me. I took a good glance at him, seeing him in his white polo, tucked inside his pants. He wasn't wearing his tie and blazer, instead, a few buttons undone slightly revealing his chest.
Then, it hit me.
I'm attracted to him. I'm entranced by him.
He makes me feel weird, yet I only know him for a week and a few days. Isn't this going too fast? Or no? But one thing's for sure, I'm definitely not in love with him.
Love is a deep word. It isn't something just to be thrown away. I value my love for a few people, and I can't simply just pinpoint that I love someone whom I only met for a week or two. Love takes time. It takes time to get to know someone. It takes time to understand how someone loves, how someone acts and respects you. Then when you already know someone--even their own demons--and still feel a connection with them, that's when you know you're in love.
