I sat there on my knees gaping at him. My eyes were so wide I was surprised they didn't pop out of the sockets. I noticed everyone was silent too, either waiting for my reaction or they were equally as stunned. Levi's parents were looking at us with a small smile on their faces, but I could feel Arianna's anxiousness. They'd known it. Now I knew why Levi didn't take off his shirt in front of me for these last few days.
That sneaky bastard
"You did not get me tattooed on your chest," I breathed looking at the outline of my side face looking up at the sky on his right peck. On his shoulder, there were stars and a moon inked in black, the shading around them making them look like they were shining bright in the sky.
Beside the outline of my face, there were two lines calligraphed in small letters. 'and just like that, my demons decided to let me in peace. and just like that, she became the only thing living in my head.'
I got up and walked around him to look at the artwork that stretched to his back. The sky was stretched till his shoulder blades and on the top of that it was ornamented with phrases and words that have a special meaning to us. The angel wings were outlined with those phrases and words, the feathers were outlined with white ink that did wonders on his tan skin. But there was this one feather that was red, right beside the devil's horns on the halo on the nape of his neck situated right between the accentuated wings.
'and she shone brighter than every star in my sky' I spotted this curved in cursive around one feather. There was 'mi ciela' in another, 'mírame los ojos, te dirán todo lo que mi boca no puede' was outlined at the right angel wing. And the left wing had 'eres la única estrella brillante en mi cielo. Y de repente, mi día es incompleto sin ti, mi bebé,' outlines the side of it.
My eyes blurred at all those confessions and feelings inked on him. And meaning behind the use of angel wings and devil's horns didn't escape from me either. I knew him enough to know why he put them there.
Angel wings were me. He said I scared most of his demons away, so I was his angel. The feathers were his family: Sven, twins, and his parents. And me. We all guarded him, helped him away from the dark, and that's why they were white. And that devil's horn and that sole red feather was the tinge of mischief, that sliver of wickedness that he needed.
The night sky was his world, and me looking up at him lit it up. The angel, the devil, the stars, and the moon were all in the sky. And it was infinite, never-ending possibilities floated in it.
I was his sky.
He had started to call me Cielo long before we even got together. Meaning he saw me as his starlight long before he ever kissed me.
"Say something," he rasped.
"I can't believe you did that," I said in a wobbly voice, tracing the new ink gently. The skin around it was still red, still healing. Tears flowed down my face as if I had an overflowing river in my eyes.
"You ruined all my plans," I said wiping my tears, but still unable to remove my eyes from the artwork on his body, "I wanted us to get matching tattoos on your birthday,"
I took a shaky breath, "This is insane. When did you get it?" Then the more I looked at it, the more I realized how fucking serious this was. He had permanently imprinted our relationship on his body.
What if we break up? Will he regret this?
"You are crazy," I whispered. Finally, I found the courage to remove my eyes from his back and moved around to be in front of him. When I looked up to his face, his shiny golden-brown eyes were already looking at me with that love and adoration. As if he can't believe I'm real.
