PATRI [ PATRY ]
All I need is to remember how it was to feel alive.

Y/N'S POINT OF VIEW

Cold tears are evident in my eyes as I saw Patri standing in front of the huge tablet stone in the middle of this cave. He's smiling, but I can't feel any sincerity on it. He's smiling but he's not happy. Glittering stones are on his hands while his slender fingers are putting it, fitting it, on the tablet stone. Since the start, I did not agree with this revenge plan of his. He's planning to destroy humanity. He's planning to take revenge on what happened to us elves in the past. I was reincarnated at the exact time Patri was reincarnated too, temporarily goes with the name Licht, and explained everything to me.

Of course, I was so surprised. He's going to use William's body, one of the most respected Magic Knights Captain, for this game of his and I don't approve of that. I don't want anybody to get hurt.

Was it the world that changed? Or was it me? Was it Patri? Again, it was something that I couldn't tell. All I know was that nothing is the same anymore. Not the world. Not me. Not my old friend.

"P-Patri," I stuttered as I caught his hand. It was shaking.

His golden orbs saw my expression as I shook my head. He stared at me, at how my e/c orbs paired with my fair complexion and slender body. I'm not the old Y/N anymore, and instead, I'm using a human body.

"Stop," I softly commanded. "Please, I know you–"

"Y/N, we talked about this."

If he continues this, what will be his difference from the main suspect behind the elves' death? He'll become evil too, he'll become much miserable and I can't bear to watch it happen anymore!

"Licht—no, Patri. You have to remember what it was to feel alive."

Those words irked something in him, enough for him to get mad and grip on my chin very tight. I held onto his wrist as tears streamed down my face. It hurts, dammit.

"I have to remember what it was to feel alive that's why I'm doing this. I'm going to make them pay, the people who killed us!"

I looked at him disgustingly. "Then what's your difference with them?! You're evil too!"

He was stopped. He was surprised. He didn't saw it coming. His hands are trembling when he let go of me. Pink marks are evident on my cheeks and my jaw badly hurts.

"I just want to—"

"Leave," His voice is cold as ice.

I was about to say something more but I decided not to. My hands turned into fists as I ran out of the cave, only to realize that my feet are dragging me to the main castle in the Capital wherein the Wizard King is staying. This is my last resort, they're my only hope. I have to save Patri.

Directly marching to Julius' office, I knocked twice before I heard footsteps.

"Excuse me, who are–an elf?!"

"More like, half," I answered jokingly, trying to show my true intentions. "Please, I'm not here for a fight."

The Wizard King stared at me, probably observing me if I'm lying or not. When he was sure, he opened the door, letting me in. I sat on the couch, hands on my lap, looking on the marble floor. What a shame, if Patri knew I'm coming here, he would've killed me in an instant. He will not let anyone destroy his plans. He's not the same old friend I used to know.

"What are you doing here?"

"Patri—I mean, Licht is trying to overthrow the Clover Kingdom."

I filled him with details. I filled him with the most important information. There is no other way. I'm throwing my dignity as an elf, and instead, I'm going to side with humans. I don't know why but something in me tells me that this is wrong. Everything is wrong. Someone is really the culprit behind our deaths, not humans. Someone? More like, something. I was reincarnated to prove this true.

Julius took a moment to process everything I said. "Now, what're you planning to do?"

"I want to save Licht. I want to save my best friend."

My heartache as tears fell from my eyes once again. I stood up from my seat, slamming my palms on his desk. "I can't let him turn evil. I don't want his plan to succeed, because I know he's still going to be miserable in the end! Please, let me save my friend. Let me help you save the whole kingdom."

The Wizard King nodded his head slowly, putting a hand on my shoulder to comfort me.

I'm so sorry, Patri. I'm so sorry for snitching, for betraying you. I was tired resting against my pillow like the aging winter sun, only wake each morning to remember that you're not the same person I used to know.

I love you, I love you so much that's why I'm doing this.
