You energetically greeted William Vangeance, your squad captain, while he shyly nodded before immediately walking away. That's when you realized he's not wearing his mask that's why he's a little bit aloof to the rest of the crowd. He's scared to socialize when his accessory isn't on. You were in the middle of paper works but your mind doesn't seem to cooperate with you.
The only thing that's running on your mind is William.
Standing up from your seat, you decided to play your role as his secretary. Preparing a cup of tea for him, you knocked on his office door twice.
"C-Come in," You heard him stated inside. Slowly turning the doorknob, he immediately wore his mask before looking at you with a smile.
"Do you need anything, Y/N?"
"Captain," You set the cup in front of him. "I prepared tea for you."
"Thank you," He shyly commented before taking a sip.
That's when you silently watched his eyes closed, savoring the drink you gave him. He's beautiful, he really goddamn is. But why it looks like he's hiding those scars of him? If everybody thinks that it's his greatest flaw, well, they're obviously wrong.
"I-Is there anything wrong with my mask?"
You sat across him, face-palming in the process. "You look better without it."
Using this private time of yours to communicate with William without honorifics, you started out blunt. He's your childhood friend so you knew this man very well, inside and out. You knew how people sent horrible and ridiculous looks at him when he was young, because of his scar on the face.
Growing up wasn't easy for him. Hiding his emotions to almost everybody, crying alone in his room, I was sorry for my William. When Lord Julius came to suggest that he should join the Magic Knights, he was given a special mask and since then, he always wears it. The mask itself is beautiful, yes, but you still prefer seeing your friend without it. If only everyone thinks like you, he doesn't have to hide his face anymore.
"Y-Y/N, some people might get scared—"
"Because of your scars, I know," You stood up, preparing a tea for yourself. "But William, are you just going to hide it forever?"
You saw him shook his head. "I don't know."
"William," Going back from your seat, you caught his hand, making him blush instantly.
"You're handsome, remember that. And those scars of yours, they make you more beautiful. Let people accept you for who you are because it's much better if you're proud of yourself. Trust me, that part of you will make you strong so embrace it."
He blinked twice before hearing those encouraging words of yours. You chuckled at his reaction, he's just too adorable! Grabbing his mask, you slowly took it off from him.
"See?" You smiled, putting the accessory down. "You look lovely. Very lovely, William."
"Y-You too..." He commented, looking away from your gaze.
Laughing, you stood up before kissing his forehead. "Promise me you won't hide your scars from me ever again."
"I-I promise, Y/N-chan."
You don't want him to fight back what he'd become and you were very aware that he got bruises where he came from but even though if he would try restarting, nothing will change anymore. You don't want him to hide those beautiful scars. He's been going way too hard on himself and that's the reason he's feeling like hell. You want him to feel better, learning the real meaning of happiness. Silently, from the bottom of your heart, you swore you'll forever stay by his side, no matter what.
"Good boy."
And with that, you elegantly walked towards the door but before you closed it, you looked back at William and you saw how red are his cheeks right now while staring back at you.
Aw, dear Lord, he's so cute.
"And, did I already told you that I like you?"
