Walking out of your bathroom with the only towel wrapped around your body, you faced the large mirror in front of you. Softly touching your face with your delicate fingers, you traced the acne marks on it. You pinched your nose, thinking it's not that perfect. Dark circles are not that evident but you're getting a little bit annoyed just by thinking of them.
Trying to comb your hair, it's not soft. Looking below, you pinched your waist before realizing you're still gaining weight even if you're trying your best to exercise. It's infuriating, you know?
Sighing, you looked back at the mirror. "Why am I this ugly?"
Truth be told, you're very envious of other girls in your squad. They're all petite, good-looking and all their skincare routines are working on them. Even if they eat too much food, they're not gaining weight. While you're here, just eat candy and you'll gain a kilogram. You're very insecure of yourself, especially when there's this someone you want them to notice you.
Your captain, William Vangeance.
He's very beautiful (despite his scars) and you know he's out of your league. You're pretty sure that there are many girls out there that have the greater capability of stealing the man of your dreams from you itself. Well, it's not as if you're expecting for him to notice you though. How can he notice such a potato-head like you? You think you're ugly, fat, you can't run that fast, you sweat like a mad dog and so many acnes are renting on your face for free.
"But I'm nice, you know?"
But being nice will suffice? You're friendly, mature, and very intelligent, I might say. But will it suffice? Will it be enough for your captain to notice you?
"Sucks to be me."
Walking out from your room, you saw your captain accepting Valentine's gifts from your friends. They're all blushing madly (but still cute) and William is smiling very genuinely, making your heart melt. When you blush, you just look like a tomato and for you, it's not cute. Sighing, you look at the small chocolate box on your hands.
Should I give it to him?
You baked all of these last night and you even included a small letter inside. You prepared everything, hoping that this confession will turn out good but now, you're starting to think twice. What if it's too sweet and he doesn't like it?
You grunted, "Where's Batman when I need him the most?"
And with that, you walked out of the scene.

Afternoon.
The captain is in his office.
A perfect time to give your gift personally.
Biting your lip as you paced back and forth in front of the captain's door, you're starting to sweat. Your heart is hammering very wildly inside your chest and any moment, it'll explode. That's when you heard the door clicked as it opened, leaving you standing there, dumbfounded with your captain looking surprised. Probably wondering why you're outside his office.
"Do you need anything, Y/N?"
"Ah, e—," i, o, u. Vowel sounds, girl.
He chuckled at the reaction. "I-Is that a gift?"
"H-Hai!" You suddenly shouted before your shaking hands gave it to him. "F-For you, Captain."
"Thank you," He smiled before accepting it. "Highly appreciated."
"I-I baked it!"
"Oh, really?" He suddenly sounds interested.
You nodded in your position while looking at the floor, fingers fidgeting. "Y-Yeah, last night. A-And Captain, I-I have something to tell you."
"Sure. Let me hear it. Do you want to come inside?"
You eagerly shook your head. "I-It'll be fast, Captain! D-Don't worry!"
"Okay, then."
"A-Actually I..."
Y/N, just confess, goddammit! This is your only chance. You're blushing already and you can't afford your captain to see your ugly face anymore! Spill it!
"I LIKE YOU, CAPTAIN WILLIAM VANGEANCE!" You shouted on top of your lungs and the whole base probably heard it.
"I LIKE YOU EVEN AND I KNOW I'M VERY UGLY THAT'S WHY I'M NOT EXPECTING FOR YOU TO ACCEPT IT BUT THANK YOU FOR ACCEPTING THE CHOCOLATES BECAUSE I REALLY STAYED UP LATE LAST NIGHT FOR IT. THANK YOU FOR ACCEPTING ME IN YOUR SQUAD TOO, CAPTAIN. I LIKE YOU AND HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!"
Then that was your cue to run away...
...but the captain itself stopped you from your tracks by grabbing your wrists. He looked at you with such kind and beautiful eyes with a very genuine smile on his lips.
"Thank you for confessing, Y/N."
He suddenly tucked the loose strands of your hair behind your ear.
"And you're not ugly, remember that. Right now, I'm looking at you at I just can't believe how pretty your eyes are. If only you saw what I can see, you'll understand why I want you so desperately. You're very courageous, brave, intelligent, and friendly. You're such a great help for the squad and I think..."
He caressed your cheek making you blink twice.
"...that's what makes you beautiful."
